I'm reluctant to mention it to my pdoc unless it happens again. He's kind of like that mindset, too....how often does it happen, is it persists it, could something else explain it, etc.

I'm reluctant to mention it for two reasons (plus it only occurred once):

1. I like my AP, but I worry about long term side effects. I figure the lower the dosage I could get away with, the better.

2. I think it could launch an exploration into the possibility of another diagnosis tacked onto the ones I already have. It wouldn't "conflict" with my current ones...I just don't really want another one?

The symptom was unusual to say the least. But I did not harm myself. Or anyone. I was under lots of stress at the time. I think a one-shot deal. What do you think?
I have had a symptom or two I have not reported, as they were temporary and tough to explain. My appts have been full, time flies in appts. and my pdoc has been on vacation a lot this summer.

If it's disconcerting, or you are not sure, maybe your pdoc can help you with deciding if it's important or not?

I do understand your well thought out concerns.

If I'm gonna be honest...today has been a s******w of a day. I had a mental breakdown at my desk and the stupid SIs are creeping in. I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired all the time. On top of that, I have to go sit in class for 2 hours tonight and tomorrow. UGH!!! *rant over*

Other than that, I think this is a great idea for those who aren't comfortable with or aren't a part of Facebook.

Why do pdocs always want to add more meds? That's what my pdoc tried to do today, but I didnt let it happen. I put my foot down and said I wanted to increase my current dosages *first*.

I'm already on 7 meds total (between psych meds and health meds). I really don't want to increase that number

I bet there are pharmaceutical incentives to make these guys prescribe expensive $hit

I'm glad you voiced your own opinion!
Sometimes we know what we need and/or what we don't need.
I hope all works out in your best interests!

No kidding there are incentives. There are rarely solid evidence-based justifications to go beyond a 3-4 psych med combo. It's likely not enough dosage adjustments have been tried. The quick and easy way, at least at first, is to slap another one on top.

I wish I knew the answer. My pdoc doesn't even seem to want to listen to me.

Oh thanks. That's really nice of you.

They won't take me back. I was missing too much work as was. I think I was three steps away from getting fired anyway.

If you look around hard enough you may be able to find someone with no drug company relationships. For me it is a teaching hospital and while my dr. is a full dr, not a resident, she is not allowed to have much association with drug reps at all and cannot take anything from them, not even a pen. No samples are allowed except in special cases (they would let me have samples last fall when I needed to try a med I couldn't afford and would eventually get through assistance but needed to try first) and that leads the drug reps to not really prioritize the drs. there. We tried for samples of 2 or 3 drugs and couldn't get any of them.

The only time my pdoc meets with a drug rep is when a new drug comes out and they want to educate the drs. on what it does. I think my pdoc seeks that out because she's also a pharmacist and is very interested in how the drugs work (and uses that when deciding what to use to treat).

I don't know how to find someplace like this except by calling around but it is definitely possible to have non-industry-influence drs.

Some states have laws which influence Big Pharma incentives. In my state, Drs must report any gift/service/incentive which puts them over a total of $25.00 per year. Generic drugs are required in initial trials of meds.

Well finally got in to my pdoc. Hes been out of the office and cancling my appointments. Finally told him about the Geodon weirdness (disassociation) or whatever the heck that was that happened to me. He didn't seem too concerned so guess I shouldn't be? I still cant get over it. It was just too weird. Nothing like feeling like you have just woke up and you have been somehow unaware or at some different level of consciousness for years. I don't even know how to explain it, its just too weird. Guess I will never know what happened to me.

I worry about saying anything to my boss about all this because I'm afraid they'll try to fire me, hence the reason I haven't put in for FMLA.
