I've been diagnosed for 12 years now and have treated therapy the same since. I find excuses not to go and reschedule. I haven't seen my T in over a month! But that was mostly due to lack of transportation. But let's be honest, if I wanted to make it there, I could find a way. A few days before my appointment I'll have all these topics in my head that I want to discuss then when I wake up on the morning of, I decide that it's no big deal and I don't need to talk anymore ugh. I always do this. Anyone else hate therapy too? What can I do to keep motivated? What helps you? I really should be going because I'm in the process of Getting SSI so this is important.

I always fire my therapists. They tell me the same thing, "Don't be so hard on yourself." Well, if they don't provide a solution then it's a waste of my time and money.

Unless the government requires you to see a therapist, I think it's a waste of time UNLESS you have something you want to discuss with them.
Therapists are business people who need repeat business to stay in business just like any other business. They need to convince you that because you have bipolar, depression, anxiety or whatever, you absolutely must meet with them so many times of month. Nonsense!!

Exactly! This new T asked me what I like in a T and I said "someone who offers advice and doesn't just nod their head and collect pay for it." I've had way too many Ts just sit there and stare and that's awkward so I end up forgetting what I need to say cuz I'm so busy being nervous about being stared at in silence lol. |

I like my therapist and find her helpful. She has helped me not be so hard on myself and helps me with my procrastination....we set goal for me to complete by next session...honestly I would just keep putting these things off without someone to help keep me accountable. Also we talk about all aspects of my life and I find it helpful to have someone I can let loose on about everything. I know I'm lucky to have found a therapist I trust and click with.
