Sensitive to stimuli, hurt and deeper emotions?

I can see looking back in my history even as a child that I've always been more sensitive.

I've always seemed to be more excitable, cry more, hyper and just all around sensitive.

Even as a baby my mom said I was inconsolable much of the time.

Can anyone relate?

I heard I was a quiet baby, but yes, I have always been sensitive and deep. I just tend to turn that inward to myself. I am an only child and both my parents worked full-time almost my whole childhood, with my mom on nightshift. I had no choice but to deal with a lot of it on the inside.

I actually find that now, while on the proper meds, feel a lot more emotion than I ever have. It is scary bc I wonder how numb I have been all my life

I was 'trained' to be quiet as a baby. But ever since I can remember, I was a very sensitive child. I used books and TV as ways to escape and block out other stimuli. Once my mind got into a plot, I could ignore all the other noise, sound, movement around me. I have also always been VERY sensitive to people's comments, perceived judgments, hurts, etc. I was shamed for that in my home. I learned to internalize a lot of my sensitivities, but even so I could be volatile (screaming, crying, highly reactive) at home around my siblings who knew how to push my buttons & enjoyed it.

I was a sensitive child. I can recall being told to stop being sensitive and whiny often. I'm told I was a quiet baby though and I had good reasons to cry and be sensitive so I'm not sure it was innate....probably more of a created affect but I'm not sure.

I've definitely always felt things deeper than other people for sure. I didn't always show it on the outside though. I grew a thick skin pretty young and didn't often outwardly show emotion if someone hurt my feelings or if I was upset about something.

Yes, I've always been sensitive to criticism. It's probably a combination of my birth order (first), the expectations my parents had for me (conquer the world), and my undiagnosed BP (until last year). For me, it usually manifests itself in anger, saying something hurtful, or behaving in a foolish manner.

I was sensitive as a child, and still am for the most part. I have a very hard time with criticism, and my emotions can change pretty quickly.
