I have questions for those who were or are currently on geodon.

What mg are you taking?
Did it help with depression at all?

I'm having a bit of depression right now and my 450mg of seroquel isn't helping. I'm also on geodon, 40mg in morning and 60 at dinner. I'm thinking I may want to increase the geodon rather than go on a AD. I used to be able to take a few ADs years ago with seroquel but now they cause too many side effects that I can't stand for. And I googled "AP for depression" and geodon was one listed. I've tried latuda before too and ended up in IP cuz it didn't help.

Any info will help me here! Thanks in advanced!

You could afford to go up on the Geodon, if your pdoc agrees. Usual max dosage is 80 mg twice daily, although I've seen it as high as 160 mg twice daily. I'm not sure it's all that great for depression. I do know an increase in Lamictal two years ago helped a lot more than either the Geodon or the Zyprexa.

Definitely check with your pdoc to see what he/she thinks. Best to get the depression under control before you get any worse.

I'm on 40mg of Geodon and have been for almost 2 months. It didn't help my depression so my doctor added a bit of Wellbutrin.

My heart is beating out of control despite my blood pressure meds...could it be the Geodon? I didn't even consider that and should have.

I hope you find andwers RX....this med combo thing is truly maddening (((hugs)))

I've seen a lot of people say it did that to their heart but it never happened to me. I'm on 40 in the morning and 60 at night. But I had to take extra today because I'm feeling mixed or whatever. The extra worked like a charm so I'm going to ask pdoc to increase it. But yea if it was doing that to my heart I probably wouldn't be able to tolerate it. Abilify did that to me and yea, it's kinda scary!

I'm on Geodon, 120mg, 40 in the morning, and 80 at night, I hit a sweet spot where I don't feel too doped up, but it is helping somewhat with my depression, still my depression is mild, but not as bad as it was before.we added the Geodon, and it with Lamictal seem to be a good combo. Just wish it helped more with anxiety. Also I haven't had a hypomanic episode while on it.

Geodon helped me with depression. It helps me with everything - it is the ultimate solution for me. I have stable mood on it with no anxiety. But it was dose dependent as follows:

80 mg and I was still hypomanic, hallucinated and had trouble falling asleep because of an influx of thoughts

160 mg and I was depressed

120 mg is the sweet spot.

I highly recommend experimenting with Geodon's dosage before adding AD's. Antidepressants are not as reliable (I am talking about actual antidepressants and not Lamictal, which is a MS that works against depression) as antipsychotics.

I am extremely happy with Geodon and do not need any AD now that I am on the right dosage. Geodon lifted a suicidal psychotic depression for me - I am very grateful.

I took 80mg of geodon and for me it was one of the worst meds I ever took (along with latuda), it caused a lot of nausea and vomiting and unbearable restlessness. Just my experience though.

Are you eating enough for your body to absorb the Geodon? Since you are depressed, I wonder if you have enough energy and motivation to eat regularly, and you need a 500 cal meal for the medicine to work. When I just started Geodon and was depressed, it was hard for me to put proper meals together, and when I took Geodon without a complete meal, I felt more depressed; after I got my act together with eating, the medicine started being consistently effective.

500 cals?! Wow I definitely am not eating enough with it. I rarely eat breakfast so I don't get my first dose till around noon. And yea Its been hard to eat well lately. I'm not sleeping and I feel sick. But I'm going to work on this asap so I get the full benefit. Thanks for telling me!!

Geodon made me feel like I'd eaten an atomic bomb. Needless to say, I quit taking it. Clever name though.

My doctor stressed the vital importance of eating 500 calories when I take it. Otherwise it's not absorbed and does no good. (According to my doc)
Thanks for this!
