So my sister is finally coming home! She's gotten all her appts in and is stable. There can't be a worse time for her to be away. She's my rock. I rely on her to tell me what's real and what's a hallucination. She also makes sure I take my meds. I know it should be the other way around since I'm older but I just need more help. Good thing is that my parents are finally going to let my sister get her license so now I'll have rides to wherever I need to go: T, pdoc, pharmacy, hospital. Excited!

That's great! try not to rely on her to much. Have you gone over how to reality check and a safety plan with your T?

I haven't. Last time I had a really long note and talking about it took the whole hour. I don't even know how to bring it up? I'm not sure what reality checks and a safety plan are lol.

Reality checking is strategies you can use to check if somethings real or not. Ie. I heard someone downstairs working on our bathroom pipes, I live on the first floor therefore there's no downstairs. So it was in my head after that I could ignore it. If I hear or see something odd that my dog doesn't react to I know it's not real. Waking up in the middle of the night to check if my husband is still there and not cheating on me when I sleep. Things like that.

Safety plans are things you can do/people you can call instead of hurting yourself.

Thank you for explaining! I'm not sure what mine would be. That's hard to think of. Plus I don't have an animal (maybe soon though!)

A safety plan is a good idea. I do have one friend that lives a bit far away but if I asked I'm sure he'd say yes. I've also read that rubbing ice on where you want to cut helps. Is cutting on your legs uncommon? Not sure. I avoid my arms because they're more visible.

Alright. I'm really embarrassed about it but I'll write it in my note.
