Do you ever have a migraine without the headache?

The general hypersensitivity/-vigilance and sensitivity to light, the nausea and the seeing colours (possibly) is the same, but there's no real (physical) pain.

It's a bit like akathesia, but including all other things typical of migraines.

It's only marginally better than a "full", painful migraine. It's just as if the pain is there, you just don't feel it.

If so, is your experience any different or the same?

It's interesting because you can think and observe a bit more clearly and the similarity to a dopamine(-signalling) deficiency like akathisia and the overlap in people having migraines and BP makes it all the more interesting.

I think that's happened to me once or twice. First time I was at a bookstore and the chairs warped! Second time I had Alice in wonderland syndrome: I felt 10 feet tall and everything around me was very small. No pain during either of these.

I get that a lot. I also get the Alice in wonderland symptoms. Always thought I was a major weirdo for that. Sometimes my feet look like they are mile away. Then other times I feel like I'm only 3 ft tall. Also get exploding brain syndrome. Sounds bizarre I know. What it is ..is right when you're falling asleep you hear a really loud bang like someone shot off a canon right beside your ear. I read an article in Psychology today about it and they say it's not that uncommon so I don't feel like such a freak. The human brain is such a strange and wonderful thing.

Yes. I heard it happens as part of falling asleep. I get a very loud pop or crack noise in my ears.

It may also happen as a "normal" hallucination (if you should call it that). I used to have it quite regularly during the day. It felt like normal at the time (something I tend to have with such, or any really, hallucinations).

It hasn't happened as part of, before a full, migraine, particularly if at all, I think.

Ocular migraines? The aura, the sick feeling, the exhaustion? I used to get them semi-regularly between 6-7 pm. Sometimes around 1 pm. No idea why. I haven't had one in a very long time. Occasionally I feel like I'm fighting one off. I think it's the Lamictal keeping them at bay.

Hmm wonder if lamictal would help me? I'm terrified to try it though because I can get a rash and hives if the wind changes directions.

My understanding is that it's an anti-epileptic, which works on migraines and epileptic seizures. Topamax is also, and is used for bipolar and migraines. I used Topamax from a neurologist when I was first dxed with migraines (I had one full-blown classic). The problem with Topamax is that they don't call it Dopamax or Stupamax for nothing. I became incredibly stupid when I was on it... I mean, dumb-as-a-box-of-rocks stupid... a Pop-Tart... fruit filling for brains. But it does work.

Ugh! Don't want to take dopamax. That sounds awful

I'm on Trileptal as an off-shelf mood stabilizer. It's also helped with these kind of migraines, I think.
