What is everyone's "normal" length of stability until it's time to try a new cocktail?? These days I'm lucky to go two weeks without a issue. I'm tired of all the different meds and being let down once I see they're starting to fail me. I'm really fed up lately. I almost don't even want to waste my breath telling pdoc about this right now. I've tried sooo very many cocktails that I've run out of ideas. Sorry I'm really frustrated right now.

It took me about 5 yrs to find the right cocktail. I tried many. Sorry you're so frustrated right now. It's hard going through the med merry go around.

Stability is usually equal to depression. Hate this constant low feeling.

Yea that's another thing. When I'm "stable" I'm still slightly down and agitated all the damn time. I've come to the realization that it's as good as it's going to get. |

Took me about a year or a bit over to find something that really settled my moods.
Moods will shift unfortunately, bipolar cycles , it just does, that doesn't mean you can't find a good spot to just catch yourself a break and a deep breath. I was willing to take some heavy meds. I hated some of the side effects but what else could I do ? I know your having both BP and BPD will make it harder to find stability. If you can work in DBT classes it will help you determine which is the biggest problem for situation X and you can use whatever coping skills will help the most. I'm sorry that your struggling. From what I have seen your tough and willing to keep fighting the fight. ((( hugs )))

I am deeply sorry that you're struggling. I hate to say this, but to me pill cocktails aren't the answer. Yeah they help, but switching every two weeks isn't giving them a chance to work. There is no "miracle cure"
I have found that different meds don't help me, but everyone is different. I deeply wish you good health and that things improve soon. You have my utmost support. ![]() ![]()

Switching meds is never fun. New set of side effects etc. I'm switching the first week of January and I hope to power through any side effects I might have. Bad experiences in the past.

I think maybe you need to try to hang in there and stay on what is prescribed a little longer. I know you've admitted to giving up on drugs and I completely understand. I also know that I'm very hard to treat and it took 14 years of trying things and waiting it out through various adjustments before giving up on anything to find something that works better. Unfortunately sometimes you have to put up with a lot of crap to find the right combo. I'm sorry to be blunt but I just don't think it's going to happen until you stick things out longer and don't make changes yourself.

Sorry I should of been more clear... I've been on my med combo since summer but by "two weeks" I meant that I have two decent weeks then get dysphoric and/or mixed. I've been rapid cycling for awhile now. |

yeah I'm about fed up with the traditional line of treatment at the moment too... I'm asking my pdoc what she knows about microdosing psilocybin when I see her on the 3rd. If I hear anything besides "no, don't do that" I'm trying it. I've done psychedelics in the past, and they've had nothing but positive long term effects on mood. but that was at recreational doses. micro doses aren't big enough to produce the psychedelic effects, but should be enough to alter mood. they're using them to start to treat depression in cancer patients, with overwhelmingly positive results. hope they'll be able to do the same for me... traditional methods have failed me.

Think about it... most of these 2nd gen antipsychotics have only be first synthesized within the last decade. they cant even know the full set of effects they have on the human brain because they haven't existed long enough to do said studies. sure they can use animals, but they don't have a prefrontal cortex like we do, so there's no way to say the long term effects to that for us... psilocybin has been around for centuries, been used by humans for centuries, same goes with herb, and I say that helps me way more than any meds I've ever been on too. all pdocs do is put you on the newest antipsychotic as soon as it hits the market to make big pharma big bucks. they don't give a **** about actually treating us, they're just after the script that costs over a grand a month with no insurance... not only that but after lithium is tried pdocs are just pulling **** out of a hat to try to treat us. there is no logic, rhyme or reason to it, they have a few dozen meds to play around with, most of which come with horrific side effects, and they're basically just pulling **** out of their hats... my turn, we're pulling **** out of my hat now.
