How many hours do you allow yourself to sleep on Seroquel? What time do you take it at night ? How long does it takes to fall asleep?

Your answers to these 3 questions will immensely help me in better planing my days.

I am not on seroquel anymore, but I used to take it for years so I'll answer your questions.

1. I was a poor planner, so my sleep times varied. I would not recommend this.

2. I'd take it an hour before I wanted to fall asleep.

3. About an hour...hence why I'd take it about an hour before I wanted to fall asleep. :P
Thanks for this!

I used to take Seroquel as well, so I'll chime in.

I would take it ~1/2 hr before I wanted to fall asleep. After that, I would allow for at least 9 hours of being asleep. I would also not plan to do anything requiring much cognitive functioning for at least 12 hours after taking it. The hangover can be a bear.

Also worthy of note is the fact that there is an inverse relationship to dosage vs. sedative effects. A 50-100 mg dose will usually be more sedating than a dose of 300mg+. I found this to be the strangest effect and very counterintuitive, but I know others on here have experienced the same thing. I was also informed by my doctor at the time that this could happen.

As always, your experience can vary.

1. Without the help of Modafinil to wake me up, 12-13 hours
2. Between 9-10pm
3. Within a half hour usually... sometimes longer because of akathisia from Saphris

If it's the weekend or a day where I can sleep in, I sleep anywhere between 7.5-9.5 hours. I'll take it way late: 1:30 AM since I want to stay up and enjoy doing things I don't get to do on a work night. Sometimes it does depend on whether I've been on the dose for a while or if it is a recent increase, which takes my body a while to get used to. Although Seroquel is often reported to be much more sedating on 50-100 mg, I actually did experience a lot of sedation climbing my way from 200 mg-300 mg, and this continued as I tapered to 600 mg. After a week or two of being on the same dose though, the body adjusts.

On a work night, I only get 6-7.5 hours of sleep on an average since it's hard to shut my mind off. It's not uncommon for me to feel the sedation throughout the morning. Worst case scenario is that I feel kind of drugged, and you have to be careful if you drive. Coffee is my best friend. It helps to take it a little earlier and go to bed earlier. I try to take it at 10:30 to get up for work around 7:20 AM, but I'd recommend earlier than that.
