For the last several weeks I've been experiencing this weird sensation along my upper spine that radiates to my neck and the back of my head. Sometimes down through my arms as well. The best way to describe it is a feeling similar to when you shiver but it remains for a while instead of going away super quick. It's kind of a buzzing feeling and is really creepy feeling. It's been keeping me from sleeping many nights in the past couple of weeks.
I don't know if this is caused by anxiety, as I've experienced numbness and weird sensations with anxiety before, but never like this. Or is this some sort of medical (possible nerve) issue that I should have checked out. When it happens sometimes I feel an intense urge to move to try to shake off the feeling, which usually helps only momentarily. Has anyone else experienced something like this?

With anxiety and tension I have experienced all kinds of "shivering" oder "numb" or "itching" feelings. Could be that.

Anxiety can fool us into fearing we have a dangerous illness. I'm not a medical professional, but what you've described sounds more like anxiety to me than anything else.

I get something similar with anxiety but I also get the same sensations along with DEEP pain in the base of my skull and down my right arm. Feels my limb is filled with ice and my whole arm hurts with tingling in my fingers. For years the doctor said it was anxiety and fibromyalgia. I insisted on an MRI and he said he'd do an X-RAY. The X-ray was clear and he said his previous diagnosis was correct and not to worry. A bit later I demanded an MRI as my research indicated an X-ray was not sufficient. Turns out I have cervical spinal stenosis, arthritis, bone spurs and a slipped disk. I spend years thinking my mind was creating imaginary pain and that really effected me emotionally. All because they tried to save money on tests and preferred to rely on guess work. My suggestion is to see a doctor and make sure it's not physical. (((Hugs)))
