It was nice while it lasted. I can't sleep again. The melatonin did help for about a month and a half. Now I'm back to tossing and turning and then meds make me sleepy all day. Then when it's time for bed I can't sleep wel.

I'm sure you've tried this, but does caffeine help at all?

And when do you take your meds?

There's nothing quite like not sleep. :/ People who have never experienced insomnia or never had a baby can't understand how quickly it frays you. At least, that's what it does for me. I quickly splinter into pieces of anger/sadness/pain/loneliness/panic.

You don't have a med that helps with sleep?

I take melatonin but even 10mg of that isn't helping too much. Here's to hoping!

I think that I heard you can safely take 20mg of melatonin.

I suggest melatonin with valerian root. IMO this is an excellent combo of sleep meds.

Psych meds

I take loads of l-theanine. I use the Suntheanine brand, because they do quality control and all that jazz. I take it 2x daily for anxiety and then sometimes more at night. I'm sleeping much, much better now.

I'm glad you got the Haldol reduced. I read somewhere that a lot of people can get results with less than 5mgs/day of Haldol. Apparently, its terrible reputation is due in large part to being given in high doses.

Hope you can get some sleep. :-)
Thanks for this!

I have had no problems. I have not come across anything to the contrary so far on the Internet. However, I have not researched this very well. This combo of supplements work very well, like a couple glasses of wine.

I take 10mg melatonin, 50mg Benadryl and 10 mg ambien plus the latuda and still have problems sleeping. I only drink 1 can of soda with caffeine a day, no coffee or other caffeine but still trouble sleeping. I think it's the nature of the BP beast.

Well I certainly got no sleep last night because of the storms that came through. I did manage to stay awake all day though.

I mean a MED med. Rx medication.

I take seroquel and it is my magic anxiety/sleep medication. Even after 2 years, it's still helping amazingly and still key to me getting to sleep every night. I've had to take something or other for 9.5 years for sleep ever since my bipolar first started and the insomnia kicked in. I really like the seroquel.

My husband feels like it gives him a hangover, though, so it's not for everyone.

It sounds like your insomnia is pretty bad and you might need an actual medication more powerful than something herby.
