I am really in a hard spot right now and do not know where to begin.
My sister has always been difficult and is very critical of others. She is controlling and often verbally abusive.
One day shes fine, happy clear headed and you actually like her, and the next-totally evil.
I need help to find some simple symptoms of bipolar, and if she is, how do i go about telling her this or getting her help without her freaking out.
She has talked about suicide already.

Welcome to PC...you will find a lot of resources here...look under the tab for disorders...you will find information about Bipolar...

For your other question...that begins to be tougher...the decision will need to be her's regarding when she is ready to get help...she already may know or suspect some kind of issue...she maybe scared to seek help...she may want someone to ask...she may want someone to find the help...she may be in denial and be upset if approached...

Like I said this can be a tough one...I think I would start by learning some basics about bipolar...what it is and what it is not...You may want to investigate on your own some psychistrists or therapist in your area...I would not suggest mentioning this...but one thing you will find that most of us experience revolves around finding a pdoc or T and getting in to see them...this may be a ways off before this stage is reached...at least you will know...

Her mention of Suicide...not sure if this was in passing or what...if she is truly suicidal you will need to immediately intervene with professional help...if she is not...the next time you hear mention of it...you can talk to her about how she is feeling...might be an opening to discuss further and help her find help...again if she is planning something...you will need to have professional help intervene...

Hope this helps...
