my husband and i share the same pdoc he had his appointment yesterday,my husband was concerned about my mood lately, lack of ambition, tired, depressed and blah, did i mention blah?? so he comes home with from his appointment with a new med for me.....provigil, he said it would act as a mood elevator. I was furious that they were talking about me and more pissed off that the doctor just gave me more pills....that makes 7. I am looking for any feedback on the provigil. I really do not want to add another pills to my mix but i guess if there is a chance of it working i may try it. thanks for being there.. Jen

Hummmm...

Since your married...it would seem reasonable that you would be a topic of discussion during his pdoc appointment...you are certainly in his circle of influence...meaning you influence him and he influences you for good or bad...

I think what caught me off guard is the bring home another drug...that's odd for both the pdoc and your husband...I'm thinking that should have been something that you would discuss with pdoc...

Probably time to have assertive communication with pdoc and husband regarding the boundaries...from your post you think they crossed it? At least I do...

Sure they can talk all they want about you and how whatever affects him...you are open to do the same...unless your having a joint session...husband should not be drawing conclusions about you that would persuade pdoc to prescribe medication ... it was just plain wrong of both of them to cross that boundary...

I'm not sure I'm helping or stirring the pot her...my conclusion is assertive communication with both...

I guess i am ok with them discussing my moods, now, when i asked my husband why i have a new med, he told me he did not ask for one for me, he was just expressing his concern for me and how long i have been in the dumps and he says he seems to see more of my mood changes then i do. don't know i can't blame him for caring but it felt like i was incapable of taking care of my own issues, kind of like he was stepping on my toes. As for the pdoc i was seeing him every other week for a while so he is well aware of my condition and my up downs and this is the longest i have gone without seeing him(1 &1/2 mo)so i just don't know what to think about that, besides that fact that i agree with you about crossing the line, ishould have been a part of that decision. maybe i go take it out on him!!!!!!!!!

I also take Provigil for excessive daytime sleepiness (probably due to meds for bp). I have been on it about 7 years & have not had to increase the dosage & don't feel wired, but just alert, motivated & energized.

When I wake up it is the first thing I pop into my mouth so I can get on with my day.--Suzy

Also, I couldn't imagine sharing a pdoc with my husband. I think it would be too easy for private info. to be revealed . Unless you have signed a consent form nothing should be revealed about you, your treatment or even if you are in treatment!--Suzy

I was just prescribed provigil to counter the sedative effects of all the other stuff I take. Haven't tried it yet as the Rx needs a pre-auth to fill it.

Thanks for the posts everyone!!! I tried a full 200mg of the provigil on the first day, boy was I not tired, I was up til 1:30am!!! I did manage to get a whole bunch of house work done, lol. So the next day I only took half of that and seemed to do much better. I am hoping that I can get away with only using it as needed, maybe just because I am in a slump, it is more expensive than my other meds and really don't want another prescription to fill every month.
