Haven't checked in for awhile. I was in a pretty deep depression for quite some time. I've now switched into a hypomanic episode. My mind is all over the place, I had a co-worker basically tell me I was like the energizer bunny because I just can't sit still for any length of time it seems. My productivity at work has shot up (which isn't necessarily a bad thing right now). I am a bit weary because I don't recall ever feeling this good, as if I'm in the clouds just floating around as if there isn't a care in the world. Saw my therapist earlier in the week and she thought it may be the start of a hypomanic episode, but wasn't sure since I wasn't exhibiting a lot of symptoms. I then saw my pdoc a few days later and he pretty much confirmed it's a hypomanic episode. He increased my Seroquel so hopefully that will help with my sleep issues. As with all of my episodes, we'll keep a close watch on them in hopes of not making things worse. For now I'll just enjoy the extra burst of energy and just feeling all around happy, which I haven't really felt in at least 2 years.

Hi again! Good to hear from you!
I was wondering about you.
Sorry you are going through an episode. It sounds like it feels better to you than the depression. It also sounds like you, your T and your pdoc have a good handle on it.

I hope any change is gentle.
Be safe!

WC

I hope the hypomania stays within the boundaries of control. Try your best to sleep and maybe hide those credit cards if you're prone to overspending.

Sorry you're having some difficulties. I can completely relate. Actually, in the beginning of spring, my depression lifted, but some hypomania started to kick in. The Seroquel is "to a point" working. At least it isn't full-blown mania. I know what you mean...it's refreshing to not feel so down and suffering. You're being very wise by just keeping an eye on things since less sleep can lead to more problems with hypomania sometimes turning into actual mania. At least for now, your meds are being managed, so a burst of energy isn't such a concern right now (so it sounds). Hopefully things will stay in check. You seem to have good insight, which is a plus.
Thanks for this!

Yeah, my spending sprees have gotten a little out of hand recently *le sigh*

With my last depressive episode I wasn't doing much of anything, even being online felt like a chore most days. I am grateful for the care team I have, that's for sure.

I see what my aunt goes through (she has BP1 and schizophrenia) and I don't want to go down that path if I can help it. Some days are definitely better than others, as I'm sure many of you can relate to.

Yes, I was then thinking you might have been "knocked offline" by the depression. I've had it happen to me. Very glad to hear from you!

Good idea on staying in touch with docs but enjoy this! Without hypomania my life wouldn't be worth sticking around for as it helps me push past my physical limitations. I need some pure clean hypo fun about now. I envy you. Enjoy while staying safe. (((Hugs)))
