I'm not really sure why this is happening, but before bed, I have some kind of fear that I am not going to wake up. One of my night medications are Seroquel, which I've been on for a long time, but the dose is sometimes changed. I am on 400 mg now.

There was a time I was on less, and there was a time where I was on more. Something makes me wonder if this medication is giving me this reaction. Or it could be a recent scare where a certain medication I was on temporarily interacted with it, where it made me very dizzy an scared. I am no longer on that medication though, so I don't know why I feel scared.

It is very frustrating, because I want to be able to go to bed and not feel worried of my heart stopping or something. I do know reading side effects of meds often scares me, so my knowledge of the possibilities does not help my paranoia. Has anyone ever been through something similar? Or...if not...any advice would be helpful. I hate this.

I got that when I as on aterax, it's a horrible feeling. I would look over the reaction list and see what it says to calm down your fear. I use this to calm my fears. Can you talk to a dr. or therapist about this? Maybe speak to the pharmacist could help?

I'm sorry you're experiencing this. The only advise I have is to run it by your therapist or pdoc. I hope this fear goes away soon. Best wishes.

Thank you. My pdoc doesn't seem concerned, but it's something I can't get out of my head. I stopped seeing my therapist for a few months, because I didn't think I needed it anymore, but it might be time to go back. It's so expensive, but I guess there isn't any other choice to get the help.

I used to have those when I was younger. Totally petrified of going to sleep because I didn't know if I was going to wake up. I grew out of it, though, with guided meditation and a better sleep routine.

You can also check with your pharmacist to see if there are any drug interactions or side effects you need to be concerned with.

maybe a less densely sedating drug for your problems? I remember briefly trying old school seroquel, and it was horrible. I felt like I was being poisoned, somehow...the sedation? the antihistamine thing? maybe I'm just not a good for for low potency tranquilizers? I dunno...

I've done better on Abilify. Actually, even Risperidone was nicer to me than Seroquel. It also raises a question, probably one you might want to think about asking your doctors: do you need a full dose tranquilizer, all the time, for your problems? I'm doing better now on fewer drugs, including far less tranquilizer. Turns out...Abilify wasn't as terrible as the other neuroleptics I'd tried, but now that I've tapered so much...I see that it was still creating problems, mental as well as physical. awesome.

Hope things get better for you.

Thank you. At one point, Risperidone was mentioned to me by my pdoc....but I do not remember why she didn't move forward with that recommendation. I have noticed if I go a night without Seroquel, I toss and turn without any sleep at all. It is terrible. However, I really don't like the idea of having to take Seroquel due to reading all the bad side effects...not just short-term, but long-term too. When I was on higher dose Seroquel, my hands started to get twitchy. Luckily that went away. Abilify didn't work for me unfortunately.

I'm hoping there's something milder yet effective my pdoc can find for me. Sleep is a really huge problem for me and always has been.
