I woke up this morning and cleaned every square inch of the kitchen and bathroom, in which I have not done in a loooong time (I still live at home with my mom and those are my younger sibling's chores), but I feel really good about it! Ik I'm not in a depressive state any longer but I don't really think it's manic or hypo manic either, I want to believe it's "normal". Normal, like how I was that "loooong time" ago i mentioned earlier. Some of you may know already, I'm still fairly new to my bipolar dx, in which I strongly believe is Bipolar I, and I'm still learning and trying to understand it. I've also been taking my first ever bipolar med going on 2 weeks now and wonder if I'm feeling this way because the med is helping me become "normal" again or in a very stable hypo manic state...

Hypomania and being normal to me are very different. For me hypomania is being way more optimistic about life and things than usual. Hypomania can be quite nice but can also turn onto mania. If you were depressed before the meds, the meds are just lifting you out of it I assume. I wouldn't nessasarily say your hypo but only you and your therapist and pdoc know what your episodes look like.

For me hypo tends to start out with more energy and motivation to get tasks done (house painting spree etc). So now when I start to "do" more I immediately think "uh oh". Then someone told me to sit back take a breather and see if there are any other hypo symptoms in play as that may be more of an indicator as to if its hypo or just a good ol normal energy spurt.

Hypomania does not equal normal. It sounds like the meds are lifting you up. If you start showing signs of hypomania though or think that's where you are now, please contact your pdoc. Best wishes.

These are some of the questions we all have when we start meds and then start observing moods or mood shifts while taking meds. Just continue to observe well and you'll have it all figured out soon!
You might find a mood chart helpful?

Thanks all! Today is much like yesterday I woke up feeling very energetic and motivated. The meds are definitely giving me a lift. I feel more like myself, than when I'm depressed, and even manic. Manic leaves me feeling very scattered, confused, and out of control. I'm still learning these episodes.

WC a mood chart is a good idea! I should start one, thanks!

I make way too many technical errors when hypo or manic; my normal has a cool rationality to it that is very important for me to do my job as I have no second reviewer and folks depend on me doing my part, for them to be able to do their part.

hypo is good for painting the house though.

I am taking Lamictal nightly increasing dose from 25mg to 200mg, I am not done with 25mg yet, and Seroquel 25mg 1-2 tablets at night as needed.

Today has been good over all but I just have to get this burden off my chest!! ... MY BF/RELATIONSHIP IS MY BIGGEST TRIGGER, EVEN PLAYS A HUGE PART IN MY SELF CONFIDENCE AND SELF ESTEEM. He don't even try, he don't know he's doing, so it's definitely not on purpose. I honestly think it's our past that continues to haunt me. It's like I can't get away from it and oh yeah that's also the reason why I'm INSECURE. IT SUCKS because I can not control feeling this way!

I've been on Lamictal for a long time (400mg) and I can tell you that it's been an awesome med for combating the depressive side of my issues. It's even used as an antidepressant for individuals who have treatment resistant depression.

Good morning. Yes, so far I'm loving my lamictal, it has given me a very needed boost so far. Only thing I wonder about is, if the 25mg a day working is working fine, what effect would the increasing doses have on me... hope it's just as great!

You had talked about titrating up to 200mg. That's a pretty standard dose for those with BP. At the low starting dose, you're probably experiencing the first glimpses into not being so bogged down with depressive symptoms.
