Hi,

I have decided it's time to say goodbye to Latuda.
It's marketed for Bipolar Depression.
During the first 2-3 months of initiating Latuda, I'd found it very activating at just 40 mg. As the antidepressant effect dropped off, we'd raised the dose to a level I could tolerate. I have never re-captured the initial positive effects.

I've had very bothersome GI effects.
This drug is very expensive and seems to be only giving me side-effects.

I've started a taper in order to discontinue the drug.

If you've discontinued Latuda, why did you do so, how long had you taken Latuda and how did the withdrawal go for you?

Thanks so much!

WC

Hi WC, a few months ago I got mad because the pharmacy kept messing up the pricing and I felt like the Latuda wasn't doing anything for me so I just stopped cold turkey. I didn't have any withdraw but within two weeks I was back in a major depression and went back on. I'm on 120mg a day. I hope the taper goes well for you and p doc can find something that works better for you, I know how you've been struggling lately. Sending big hugs!!

One of my specialists had told me every patient she's seen withdraw from Latuda gets into severe anxiety, anxiety worse than ever for each of them. (I am the only patient my pdoc has had try Latuda.)

Everyone's different!

I am hoping for minimal symptoms.
It's been 3 days of a taper and I am getting into "sensory overload' with sounds in my environment. Will see what happens.

Hi WC, I was on Latuda for about 18 months. Initially, it helped my depression quite a bit. Then when summer came, I didn't need the Latuda so much. But the worst problem was that I developed a severe tremor from it...jaw, hands, feet. Not only was I self-conscious because of the tremor, but my pdoc was concerned about tardive dynkenesia. So I decided to go off the Latuda. I dropped the dose from 120mg down to nothing over about 5 weeks. I have not experienced any withdrawal symptoms. The tremor took a couple of months to go away, but it finally has.

I stopped it cold turkey once. Made me severely depressed.

Tapered down to 20 mg the next time and became slightly depressed when stopping it

I tapered off of 80mg of Latuda over about a month with no side effects. I had tried cold turkey but became very agitated, low and anxious. Tapering slowly should work fine.

Have not come off Latuda, but just wanted to to send some love and positive vibes your way. It's so frustrating when meds stop working *hugs*

Hope the withdrawal goes well for you, WC.

I'm not going off of it, but dropping to 20mg helped me lose the akathisia that I had.
