i find myself getting very angry very easily lately. My Meds are all messed up. I leave for vacation tomorrow morning, and my doctor never called me back. I was taking Saphris, which made me hyper, and I went off of it. The weird thing is that I'm not feeling anxiety when I experience this irritability. I am feeling a terrible dread for this trip, though, and want so badly to not go.

Do you think this should be treated with an increase in my depakote, which I'm pretty sure is not at an effective dose for my weight right now. I hate the thought of even more of a poofy face, andanother10 pounds, the saphris just made me gain 10 pounds. I've tried abilify and latuda already. Any ideas?

I'm obviously no doctor, but Lamictal helped me out a lot anger/agitation wise, same with Seroquel. THOUGH, going off Seroquel made me severely pissed off, like really bad, so that's how I know it was working for me.

Sorry your doctor never called back. No advice for that besides physically going into the office when you get back from vacation. But if your doctor is notorious for not responding, then you should consider finding a new doctor.

I take lamictal. I started it about 11 years ago, and it is one of those Meds that stands out, because it did an amazing job of taking me out of a deep depression. I take seroquel, too, and I know that's another med I can't go off, and so far can't find a substitute for. I could increase the seroquel to 400, but that stuff makes me crave sweets like mad. And makes me have black beady eyes. Hmm....puffy face or beady eyes.

My doctor is not the greatest at calling back, but he's not bad either. There are hardly any choices where I live. I think he may have just been plum out of ideas for me. I'm still hoping for an early Monday morning call back, though.

I really hope you find help with this. I will be watching this thread as my son has anger issues and needs help too. We are not sure if it's BP related or something else. His birth father who he's seen very little has the exact same anger problems and is diagnosed BP. I've been told on forums that anger problems are not a symptom of BP but my son's seem to cycle in a way which makes me think it's related. The doctor will hopefully know better. I was thinking Benzos might be good but I'd have better luck finding a kidney on the black market than getting him a benzo script. I wish you luck in finding what works and hope you will post back here if you do find something. (((Hugs)))

It looks like you are choosing to increase either Depakote or Seroquel, if I am understanding correctly?

In the past, when I've been feeling significant agitation, I have found the following meds helpful: Seroquel, Depakote, low-dose Haldol. (I have also found Celexa /citalopram "takes the edge off for me." BPII.)

I'm guessing you could increase either Seroquel or Depakote and feel less agitated.

I do hope your pdoc calls you before you leave on vacation and helps to clarify your options.

I also hope you enjoy your vacation.

I don't have anger issues yet I've noticed that when I'm not taking my 2 2mg Xanax ER I get impatient, irritable and more prone to a bad temper. They were originally prescribed for anxiety but have helped in this way as well. Do you think benzos would work on calming down your anger? I hope you get that call back. Best wishes.

A benzo prn is great for anger. Xanax calms me right down and my pdoc is okay with me taking it for that reason also.

Thank you everybody. I take klonopin, but it doesn't help much at all with this kind of thing. I went ahead and took 250mg of depakote, and then will take my normal 750 tonight. I was just freaking out. When I'm not stable, I can start crying in front of other people, with very little control, and it's very embarrassing. So many fears about this trip. I feel like a child who is being dragged kicking and screaming. Just knowing how different my frame of mind is from the way my sisters is (she's going on the trip, too) worries me. She doesn't understand and will just think I'm a downer - another huge fear. I must act happy! Think happy thoughts.
