I wouldn't think so because I'm never manic. Just hypersexual and depressed.

I get hypersexual when I'm hypomanic or manic. The worst is when you're hypersexual and meds won't let you get it up.

I think people who are not bipolar can have hyper sexuality......I think it can be caused from a variety of things. Talk to a doctor if you are looking for a diagnosis.

For me being hypersexual is a sign that bad times are ahead. But it is fun on the way up until everything crashes and falls apart.

Haha I love this place. Definitely can be a symptom but not the only possibility.

Sorrry not sure if laughing is appropriate but I pretty much laugh at everything right now and definitely feeling the hypersexuality which I have noticed in all of my ups.

Oh, laughing is definitely appropriate in this place. Especially with a topic like this and Lefty's genius-level IQ sprucing things up.

He's right, you know. We need more information to make our amateur armchair diagnoses reality. Then as usual we direct the hornykid17 to a professional.

I promise no armchair diagnoses; however, hornykid owes us more before the obligatory referral to a professional. It's the law.

If you are a teenager or young adult, then thinking about sex a lot is pretty normal. M not sure what your definition of hypersexual is, so I don't know

What do you all want from me? I researched about hypersexuality when I realized my sex drive never goes away even after masturbating, and it's kinda obsessive it ruins my life. Not like the normal teen sex drive. I used to be a porn addict just to supplement it. Then in my research they talked about hypersexuality being a symptom of bipolar disorder but I don't want that. I'm just depressed though I'm never manic(high and erratic).

I know you don't want to see a Dr and get drugged up(I completely understand the feeling) but that might not be what would happen anyway. Maybe therapy is a good treatment for what you are dealing with or maybe they will give you a diagnosis that needs treatment with drugs. But you have the choice if you want to accept the treatment then. If it is ruining your life it's probably at least worth finding out your options.

Good luck in whatever your choice may be!

Seeing a doctor isn't necessarily a one-way ticket to drug land. Go to a reputable therapist and have them run some tests on you. They'll give you insight into your current state and can probably help you out.

They may refer you to a psychiatrist who can prescribe, or they may not. It's all dependent on your individual situation. Sometimes drugs can help.

Just keep an open mind.

The purpose would be to help you to know why you are hypersexual. You seem to want to know and there can be many different causes. The purpose is not to "drug you up."

Best wishes.

It seems only logical to get professional help to try and determine the cause(s) and what your treatment options might be. Then you would have the information to make an informed decision as to what would be best for you. Therapy doesn't always mean drug therapy!
Hey, have you researched whether there might be a physical, rather than MI cause?

I don't mean to minimize your concern. Of course you wouldn't be here if you thought it was normal. However, and again I don't mean to offend you, but you could in fact have a "normal" teenage obsession with sex and porn.

If you are concerned and want help you are going to have to seek professional help. Nobody here can diagnose you.

Going to see a therapist does not mean you automatically need to be on psych meds.

I wouldn't be in a rush to diagnose yourself as bipolar though. That's heavy duty and you would probably be pushed to take meds.

Take it one step at a time. Talk to a therapist...take it slow
