Here is my story. I am on SSDI disability for a long time. I have not been in the job marketplace for over twenty years. I went to one place that will helo my find a job for a disabled person. Another place is heloung me find a normal job. I am considering vocational rehabilitation if I cannot find a job that works for me. I need a low stress job where I can work less than 80 hours a week.

It sounds like I have everything together, right? I do not. I am freightened about being able to function on a job albiet being part time. My mind will probably not function. My previous work experience will no longer apply, so I will have to start from the beginning again. Most employers will want a resume. I will not have anything to show in this regard. I have to understand that this type of life is behind me forever. I may need to take the type of job I had when in college such as working in a fast food restaurant. There is really nothing wrong with this if this is what I need to do. Perhaps I can become a greeter at Walmart. I think I may be able to handle that. Now my goal is just to earn enough to make ends meet.

Have you volunteered? Having volunteer activity helps you pad your resume a bit and also helps you relearn the skills you need at an easier pace.

This is a good idea. Maybe I can obtain work on a computer in this way. Every organization needs a computer. Right?

80 hours a week? You must REALLY be feeling better! Way to go!

If I'm ever well enough to enter the workforce again I will be in a similar place so you have my sympathies. Where did you find the place willing to find work for disabled people? Why not go that route? Do you plan to supplement your SSDI or get off it?

20 years is a long time.......I'm betting you are excited but very nervous about all this. Please keep us posted on your journey. I'm very interested to hear how you go about making this leap.

Here I did it again. I meant less than 80 hours a month. This will supplement SSDI. I have to go to work in order to pay the bills. I had to borrow money from a friend in order to survive. That money is running out. If I were not so scared of this, maybe I would be looking forward to it with anticipitory anxiety.

I seem to overreact nowadays always being paranoid, expecting something to go wrong. I did not used to be this way. I think I kmow why. I took care of my mother until earlier this year when I was able to place her in a home. That last year with her was an every day nightmare. Every day I became paranoid anticipating that something else was to go wrong. I was overwhelmed through that entire year. I think this has messed with my mind.
