I know I post on in off in here, but I am going through a really hard time right now. My husband got REALLY drunk a couple of weeks ago and got physical with me. He also got in a fist fight with our 16 year old son. He got his butt beat and my son come out with a little bit of a bloody nose. They charged him with a misdemeanor for domestic abuse and felony for child abuse. He is stuck there until at least November 1 for his next court hearing. He also has a no contact order. This is the first time he has done ANYTHING like this. Now there is no income, he has lost his job. I'm trying to find work but I'm only looking at part-time (not by choice). I have been trying to get SSI because I have a hard time holding a job but right now I have no other choice. I miss him every day and hate that we can't even write each other. The last words he said to me was, "We're through." I am so devastated and I don't know how he feels now that he is sober. I am just so utterly depressed and worried about me and my kids future. Sorry it is a long post, I just really need help getting through this. I have to fight dark thoughts almost daily, especially when I'm sitting alone which is most evenings.

Do you have a vocational rehab or a Catholic charities near you to help find you a job. How's your son doing? Can you guys get family therapy? How does your son feel about your husband coming back?

I'm sorry this happened to you and your son and that you're having a tough time. Therapy might be a good idea for your family (particularly you and your son). Thinking of you and sending big hugs.
Thanks for this!

Sorry I haven't been back and thank you all for your kind words. I actually got lucky and landed a job today; I start tomorrow. Still depressed over the whole situation but some things are looking up for me. I don't know what is going to happen between me and my husband of 22 years, but I will cross that road when I get there. Right now I am just feeling very thankful cause I really did not want to lose my home.

Yes there is Voc. Rehab and I was just looking into it earlier today. My son wants his dad to come home. He is just going to have to stay sober if he comes back. I am not going to have a replay of his actions. Therapy is an option for him but he feels ok. Everyone in the house is missing him. The kids do well to stay occupied. It is harder for me because atm nothing interests me; I can't focus on anything.
