Most of the year I only sleep about 4 to 6 hours a day, and I go absolutely crazy at night. Everyone is asleep, and here I am roaming the night, or staring at the ceiling. If you have the same issue what do you do to occupy yourself or fall back asleep.

Look at forums , play games on my phone , watch Netflix or even just online shop When you can't sleep what do you do all night?? and within all that I'm planning how I want my day to go and what I want to eat because I'm weird.
(Literally what I'm doing right now)

I like it on the rare occasions that I’m awake all night. I shop online, catch up on chores, watch tv or read a book. Sometimes I just sit on the front or back porch and enjoy the peace and quiet and the utter stillness.
Thanks for this!

Only occasionally do I have significant insomnia since my medication cocktail does seem to keep the mania away. But a little slips through on occasion. When it does, I tend to bake and spend time on the computer (forums, blogs, writing blog posts). In the past I used to drive around town or beyond. Sometimes just driving, sometimes going to 24 hour joints, sometimes going to early opening grocery stores. I stopped the driving, though. My husband begged me to stop it. He'd wake up and find me gone at 3 am and get very scared. He had good reason to be scared because I once had a pretty scary incident in the middle of the night when manic.

I am so lazy when I am tired but just can't sleep, that I usually just lay there and scroll through the internet..esp Amazon and Twitter.

If I am wide awake, I go and watch TV, and that almost always knocks me out.

I take an extra Seroquel(quetiapine). I take only 25mg, so this is no big deal to take 50mg and this is per my doc

I force my self to stay in bed 4 hours whether I sleep or not.

Then I wander PC, Facebook etc.

Clean or cook meals for the next few days

Have you told your Pdoc about your lack of sleep?

I write poems, draw, paint, surf on the internet or go for a walk.
Sometimes I go to bar to drink and find people who I can talk with.

That’s totally what I used to do. Now I’ll get up and usually just wander around the house aimlessly deciding what med I can possibly take to put me back to sleep again without leaving me completely groggy for work in the morning. Utter frustration. (I have cooked and baked bread on occasion too )

I try to stay away from screens (phone, computer, TV) so there is some hope Ill get to sleep. Ill light a candle, put on some relaxing music, journal, maybe do some light cleaning, go outside and stargaze, and if I have the focus I will read.

Since being on clozapine I haven't had that problem though. I sleep 10-14 hours a day no problems falling asleep.

I'm a night-owl who generally stays up half the night watching TV and surfing the 'Net. I like being up late. I've never been a morning person and I usually sleep till 10 or 11 AM. I take my meds at 9:30 PM but don't get sleepy till 3-4 hours later. I suppose I should take them earlier and go to bed earlier, but I just can't make myself do it.

I don't sleep well, probably because I always find myself staying up too late doing something. I spend a lot of time on my iPad, if I have any concentration I will write, but I usually just spend it stressing over something. Tonight my stressor is meal planning, but my brain is so scattered I doubt I will make it far. I need to be planning meals, but I'm just looking at recipes for things I'd like to make, not planning or making lists at all. I would bake all night, if our bedroom wasn't so close to the kitchen, and would wake my husband up.
