I hate to hear this happened to your mom. My prayers are with you and your family. Use coping skills during this time.

Thanks guys.... She has improved a little bit. She still has not much speech or mobility but today was sitting in a specially adapted chair. She went for another scan an hour ago. Her blood pressure was low yesterday and she had a temperature. She has been took off of her blood pressure tablets for now. Her bay in the ward only has 4 patients on it. She is the severest case. But she will get there I'm positive of it. Wish I could stop crying though it's getting too much crying every day

My Mum was moved to another hospital on Monday afternoon. She's still got no movement in her right arm or leg. But is saying more words other than yes and no. So 1 month in the medical hospital and now probably 3-4 months in rehab

I am so sorry that this has happened to your mother, and how it made you feel. I am hoping for the best. I hope physical therapy will restore most if not all of her movement.

So.... it's been really icy here over the last week we hit -8 but no snow. My Dad fell on Sun on the ice and hurt his arm/wrist. He didn't think anything of it thinking it was a minor injury. Fast forward to Tuesday where he went to his GP who sent him up to a local hospital for an x ray. This hospital in turn sent my Dad to the main hospital's A&E (ER) department. He hasn't in fact injured his wrist he has BROKEN his wrist and needs to go back to the hospital tomorrow (Wed) to get an operation on it otherwise his wrist will be weak. He will need to get a metal plate in his wrist. Might I add his dominate hand. He will be off work for some time. This is all we need. My Mum in hospital and my Dad in plaster. FFS! 2018 has to get better right??!!??

Good news:

My Mum got out of the hospital for a few hours today to celebrate my Dad's 65th Birthday. We took her to a local restaurant for lunch and my Dad opened his gifts. Then we went back to the hospital for cake. Went back at 6pm ish and she was in her pj's ready for bed. She is exhausted. Been a fab day for us all. We even took her to the toilet with little problem which is good. Hopefully this is the step up for her positive now for the future

Had my Mum's Team Meeting yesterday. She's doing great and we can maybe get her home for a home visit which will be 1-2 days in a week. Only if occupational therapy and Social Work give the house a once over. Mum's itching to get home

I have not seen this thread before. You have been through so much. My mom had a stroke years ago; it is a terribly frightening thing to see.

I am delighted that your mum is improving! That is wonderful. I hope she is able to come home very soon.
Thanks for this!

My Mum is getting to come home for an hour roughly on Mon 9th. She will be with her OT and possibly a Nurse from the rehab centre she is in. My Mum is massively looking forward to this but is also massively anxious. I have my fingers crossed it will go accordingly.

Took Mum out for Easter dinner tonight. Great seeing her out she thoroughly enjoyed herself
