My Mum got home for an hour on Monday. We need work done to the house. Hand rails on the stairs, at the front door, in the bedroom and in the bathroom. A stair lift. A brand new bathroom. A chair for the kitchen and also a widened path at the front door leading from the drive to the house.

My Mum was left with my Dad and I for 20 mins while they OT's spoke about the house. My Mum asked what happened. She has no memory of having the stroke let alone working that day.

She was a little upset when she came into the house and when leaving. But overall great visit. Felt weird though. Hopefully have her home by July at the latest. Hopefully.

We have been taking Mum out for meals lately which is great to do. Saves being in the hospital all the time

Thanks Inner... she's so much better at walking unaided. Is going to the toilet on her own. Needs a wee hand to fix her clothes. Is getting dressed mostly on her own. Is only using her wheelchair if going long distances. Is walking up and down stairs with support. Still hasn't got moment in hand although can make a fist etc just no movement in her shoulder. Her speech is still difficult she's definitely different in this sense. She use to be so talkative now she's quiet.

My Mum's first weekend pass... and it's The Royal Wedding. Been up since 5am with her, her choice. She's snoozed on and off until 7am. Now up, dressed, meds took and sitting drinking a cup of tea. Been watching the Royal Wedding run up to it since 5 am. Wedding isn't until 12pm another 4 hours lol. Mum's happy though that's all that matters

Please do exercises with that arm and hand. You don't want her hand to get contracted closed as her finger nails will cut into her palm as they grow out.
Glad that she is going home.
she must be so thrilled.

Mum's done brilliantly this weekend. She's been up at 5am on Sat and 7am Sun. She was in bed 9pm Fri and 10pm Sat. She's managed everything. She loved the wedding. It was gorgeous weather and a gorgeous day for the happy couple

That's great to hear. So nice that she got to come home in time to see the wedding in comfortable surroundings. Sounds as if it's going well!

Well.... Mum's finally coming home in 24 hours time at 4pm. She needs to wait to get meds etc but we have been taking things home every day since Sun night. Hee friend across the bay has been discharged last Fri and another woman in the bay is being discharged on Fri too.

We have a new front door step and hand rail waiting on the other hand rail being put in. We have handrails on the stairs. We have a commode and handrail for bed. We have a chair in the kitchen. She has 2 walking sticks. New shoes. Still waiting in bathroom getting done though.

This isn't impeding her coming home though. Thankfully.

She will still be getting Speech Therapy and Physio weekly. So the therapy and support doesn't just stop on Fri.

6 months and 11 days in hospital and she'll finally be home!!!

(Happy dance)!!!
