So starting next semester I have to sit at the check in table and help people! I don't even talk to my ****ing husband but he's offering me up to man the front table. I can't say no because they don't have anyone else. Last person they had they paid and the person just sat there bad mouthing the director, sending volunteers home because she didn't know where to send them, stuff like that. I’m freaking out. It’s not like either of us are stable but without our help the co-op closes. Which means that’s one last time my son sees his friends. The stress of sitting and talking at the front table I worry will make me further unstable. I’m not going to have another hospital stay. When I tried to get out of it they said my ability to shut down conversation is a good thing. That I am very good with people. Do they realize it’s ME they’re talking about? My heads seriously spinning. I don’t have a T and my pdocs useless. I can’t talk to my husband about it because he just tells me they need someone trustworthy. Which I am. I have to practices using my voice. Seriously I hardly ever talk.

The beauty of volunteering is that it's optional, so if it becomes absolutely overwhelming for you and affects your mental health, you should feel able to walk away from that position.

However, it might not hurt to give it a try. Who knows? Maybe after some time practicing socializing with others, it will feel easier and you may find yourself actually enjoying it! You'll never know unless you try, right? But make sure to look after yourself first.

You can do it! Believe in yourself!

Also if it doesn't work out and you have to bail, oh well. No one can say you didn't try!
