I was in a really deep depressive episode a few weeks ago, and now I'm in a mixed episode. It feels like my body wants to run 100 mph but I can't move ... UGHH!!! I also have a darn cold right now so that's not helping either. I need to find something to distract myself so that I don't go insane while I ride this out .. with the amount of meds I take, I thought it would keep the episodes at bay but nope. I'm starting to get irritable and my body feels wound-up .. like I need to move ASAP. But I don't have anything to help work off this pent up energy

I can relate. Winter is a time where I am prone to cycling between mixed state and depressive episodes. When mixed, I get especially restless, and it is so cold, so I feel that I do not know what to do with myself. I am trying to do yoga every once in a while, which helps slow down my breathing. I am not disciplined enough to do it all the time though, since I am so distractible when in a mixed state. Hugs

hi. my "Bipolar I" started with a switch from psychotic depression to a psychotic mixed state, which ended in a lovely hospital stay, complete with involuntary shock treatments.
so...if its getting intense, id recommend you call someone who can prescribe something. if its not too, too bad, id say exercise, try to get your sleep in order, try to get some social interaction (if possible...), and... get outside of your head, too. that helps me, tremendously. a class, the news, writing, art, volunteer work...anything...to get outside -me- and into something, anything bigger, more pressing. hope this helps. sorry you're going thru this. :-) |
