A few days ago, a week ago.. I don't remember but I posted here about having been stuck in a mixed episode for awhile. It was pure misery.

However, I'm feeling so much better after almost a week of med changes made by my pdoc. Getting off a SSRI was one of the best things that happened and lowering my dose of Vyvanse a little bit - both of those after a few days made a big difference. I'm still having trouble sleeping but no more racing brain. Depression is better. No more wired but tired and up and down all at the same time.

My point is that I was wishing I had a quick way out and contemplated many things - even though I was stuck in a mixed state, my doctor did bring me out of it as I questioned his actions. He did know what to do when I thought he didn't and things are much better. If you are suffering, hang on because things DO get better.

That's great that you are feeling better! I hope your new medication arrangement serves you well.

In my early treatment psychiatrists tried again and again to give me antidepressants along with my moodstabilizer(s) and antipsychotic(s). It always turned into mixed episodes, often full blown manic ones. Finally my psychiatrist said "No more!" and since then I've had almost no mixed episodes.

hi. antidepressants aren't the best idea for some people. i had one shrink...she would prescribe an amphetamine, but no antidepressants. she said that antidepressants caused too much instability, whereas stimulants had a more "predictable" effect on people.

anyway...I'm glad things are simmering down for you.

Glad you're feeling better

Mixed episodes are truly awful, so I'm glad you no longer have to suffer. SSRIs can be dangerous for us folks, and I wish more drs would acknowledge that before prescribing them.

Oh well. At least you know what doesn't work. Good knowledge to have.

I'm a mixed episode person, too. I've had dysphoric mania but I'm never happy or euphoric. Once in the hospital, (for a severe suicidal mixed episode) the dr told me to NEVER EVER go on a SSRI again but I was lied to and told Trintellix was not a SSRI but just a modulator. I say NO, it's more SSRI to anyone who is going to take it. Beware. I feel so much better now that it's gone.

Hope you are feeling better today. I saw your post the other day.

You are right. I was told by a hospital dr when IP at one time to never EVER go on a SSRI again. But, stupid previous psychiatrist did it anyway. And, as I posted, it turned out bad. I'll pay close attention and never do it again. Feeling much better with it gone.

SSRI's are always a disaster with me. My stupid previous psychiatrist didn't listen to me and convinced me to switch from Wellbutrin XL to Trintellix, saying it wasn't SSRI, just a modulator. LIE. It is BOTH. It messed me up!
Anyway, it's gone now and the only thing my current dr wants me to try even going without wellbutrin and just using Latuda for depression and mood stabilization. (along with other reg. meds) We'll see how it goes. Feeling pretty good right now.

I’m glad that your mixed episode is passing or is gone. They are misery!

That’s a great reminder to trust your psychiatrist during those times. Dark times, but there is always light at the end of the tunnel when you reach out.
