I struggle with washing my hair. I manage to get in the shower okay, but I wear a shower cap so my hair doesn't get wet. I don't know why this is, but the act of washing my hair, blowing it dry, and styling it is just overwhelming to me. It doesn't look bad and doesn't look or feel greasy, nor does my scalp itch, but I feel guilty that I haven't washed it. I would hate for people to know how often I DON'T wash my hair. Does anybody else have this problem or is it just me?

I often just don't feel like taking shower. But since Winter is upon us I only need to shower every other day which I manage pretty well. I also have short hair so I don't have to worry about having to blow dry it and everything when I get out of the shower.

my hair is long

for months and months i've been going on about needing to get it cut, but I can never be bothered.

I try to wash my hair every time I shower (so usually once a week), but sometimes I realise how long it is and think.. well, screw it. it takes me too long to do that- and who cares?

When I'm in a depressive episode it could be a week without shower or hair. Right now I'm doing good and shower every day and wash hair every 2 or 3 days. Medium length hair and I can pull back front if needed

Me too. My hair is very long now but it's really thin. For the most part I just ponytail it. I have anxiety washing my hair and typically don't rinse it well enough. My scalp gets build up and I think that's why it has gotten so thin. Before my anxiety got so bad, my hair was shorter and I washed it about once a week, in the kitchen sink. I also had anti anxiety meds in those days. Since then, my back has gotten terribly bad and doesn't let me do that anymore.

I can't really do it in the shower, but I'm not sure now - I can stand up longer than I could a year ago, so maybe I can do it in the shower again.

I wash my hair every 4-6 days. It's really dry and thick, so if I do it more often it feels like straw. If I'm not washing it I at least rinse it and add conditioner if needed.

Every time I shower. Generally every other day. I have short hair which makes it easy. I have an easy cut, so I don't even use a hair dryer. It dries on it's own and doesn't require styling (I'm blessed with nice, thick hair). I've tried longer hair a few times during my life, but it was such a hassle to dry and style. I settled on my short hair and have stayed with it for its simplicity (and I think I look best with short hair anyway).

Whenever I shower which is about twice a week at this point. I'd do it more but the act of showering is so overwhelming sometimes. In turn, it ends up making me feel even worse.

Every other day. I can’t go much beyond that because I have oily hair. It’s greasy by the end of the second day. Sometimes I can dry shampoo it. However I often just wash my hair in the sink and don’t shower. I kind of have the opposite problem.

I don't shower as much as I should, but I shower more often than I wash my hair. My hair is rather curly and doesn't really get greasy so I can get away with it as long as I run a pick or brush through it occasionally. Sometimes it's a little frizzy. A bit of anti-frizz product helps.

My son-in-law does mine weekly. He also does a roller-brush blowout which eliminates frizz and keeps my hair straight. I have long hair which is a pain in the rear to wash and condition, but I don't like short hair (not on me anyway) so I have no intention of cutting it. I suppose there will come a time when he can't take time out of his work week to do my hair and I'll HAVE to wash it myself, but as long as he's willing to do it I'm not going to worry about it. I'm really lucky.

Why do you suppose it's so hard for so many of us to take showers and handle basic hygeine? I know I have trouble with it.... and I'm not proud of it.

I don't get it either. But it's been this way for years, and even though I'm far from depressed I still don't shower anywhere near as often as I should. I use what I call PTN baths (pits, t*ts and naughty bits) to keep myself decent in between showers, which are few and far between.

Depends on my activity level and the climate. Also if I am depressed or not. Also, if I am going into public.

Generally 2 or 3 times a week.

I have really thick and curly hair, even when my mood is fine it's such a hassle to wash. So when I am in a depressive episode I can go weeks without washing it... which is embarrassing to admit.

My hair is about seven inches so not very long. I wash it in the summer once a week. When I worked out and got sweaty hair I’d wash it that day too. Now that it’s winter I’m going to wash every two weeks. My hair is curly and medium course. It does not get oily it gets dry quick. I deep condition every two weeks when I wash it. Then apply a leave-in and a hair band. I keep it natural no perms or flatirons.

I wash my hair every 3 days usually. I have this shampoo that i can just literally put on top of my hair and it works as a conditioner too, very little effort. I also shower at night which means no hair drying at all. If I want it styled for the next morning I can braid it and it comes out wavy but its perfectly fine if I don't even brush it after the shower and just go straight to bed with a towel on my pillow. Try at night and leave it alone, you don't have to do a thing that way.

I wash my hair everyday. sometimes every other day. But never less than that. I would feel really gross if I didn't shower and wash my hair at least this frequently.

I usually wait about 3-4 days which is bad because my hair gets super oily. I use a lot of dry shampoo and wear hats or now that it's winter I'll wear a beanie!

I wash my hair and take a shower every day. I force myself to do it even when it feels too overwhelming. My hair is curly so it usually won`t behave if I don`t wash it and put some styling products in it. I don`t blow dry it or straighten it or anything. I usually just put it up n a bun.
