I'm sick of waking up 50 times a night, and I'm sick of always havin a headache from not sleeping. 90% of my day is consumed by general crankiness.
Ive tried everything nonmedication wise anyone has suggested doing here and elsewhere on the web. Ive tried a handful of medications and none has made me sleep more than three hours other than the night I took a **** ton of meds and I have had doctors that would put me inpatient again if they knew about it. That night I slept 7 and I was NOT yelling at people or about to put holes in the wall the next day.

I just need some sleep!

I can really relate to your symptoms. I had a sleep study done & I'm getting a CPAP machine this week, which is supposed to relieve the symptoms you describe. I've tried "benzo bombs" & other methods to sleep, but nothing has worked. If I don't remember to post back here, you can PM me in a few weeks to see if I note any improvement. I know the thought of a CPAP machine is that they are uncomfortable & make it difficult to sleep. For me, however, I had to do something because I wasn't getting sleep & always woke up with a headache. If I'm way off base, I apologize.

Are you hypomanic or just unable to sleep?

I am not going to suggest a med. You have done that.

I guess maybe a sleep study?

I hope you get some decent sleep soon!

I would look into a sleep study to rule out sleep apnea or other issues.

I have a CPAP machine as well. One of the best investments I ever made.

Thanks, and that's a very good question. I'm having similar symptoms to a couple weeks ago when you guys said it was hypomania, but I didn't believe so shrugged it off. I also stopped taking my risperdal because I don't need an antipsychotic and I hate my doctor. I wish I could prescribe myself meds, I'd do better than any MD for MY OWN BODY. Once somebody sneezed so it could have been a kidnapper, but I'm fine for a few hours if I take Ativan, which my doctor doesn't know I have. Also heard someone say "Jee, thanks." It's not bothering me. Nothing can bother the speedmeister.
I don't think it's sleep apnea. I looked up symptoms and I don't snore or any of the other things other than a headache which I didn't have while I was taking clozaril and sleeping all the time. I haven't slept well since my neighbor raped me. Depends on your definition of rape I guess because the cops just want to lock me up. I hate the spring time.
Damn, I need another Ativan.

Try clozapine at a lower dose. Somehow 25 mg does it for me. More and I am depressed. I do not have side effects on 25 mg.

There's nothing worse than getting no sleep. We as BPs really need to have our rest.

Have you tried Magnesium. It's great for calmness, relaxation, sleeping etc. Works for me, just a thought..

Oh, magnesium, right. I use a foot soak (water as hot as can be tolerated) with magnesium salt. got it off amazon. it penetrates through skin and relaxes the muscles and the water cools down to pleasantly warm and is relaxing by itself. I then lather my foot with foot cream and it helps before bed. I also have a bedtime essential oil mix and I put a few drops in the soak. Lavender oil can be used and it would be cheaper than buying a special blend.

A sleep study also measures your brain waves while you sleep (or attempt to), so if there are disturbances in your brain waves it'll pick that up as well. I needed to do that for my daughter when she was little--she would wake up quickly and have a seizure due to the disruption in her brain. Thankfully she grew out of it.

I pretty much have treatment resistant insomnia. I am getting ready to try thorazine as close to a last resort.
