I think it depends sometimes on which organisation you work at. I must confess if I was still working in my previous job/career I would’ve placed my tattoo in a less conspicuous place. I wouldn’t have got the salary I did with too many visible tattoos. Even my male colleagues covered up.

Tattoo story, a couple of decades ago I had a elderly male patient (ex Navy) with an interesting tattoo. The word “ramrod” was tattooed on his 1%. Ouch.

Each to their own.

Personally, I'm not into them. I've seen nice ones, but most I've seen really aren't and simply look like bruising from any distance. I'm no conformist --color hair I love (mine is purple), but I simply don't care for tattoos. So what? If that makes me unacceptable, so be it.
I created a thread about tattoos and piercings eons ago. At the time I was plotting my very first tattoo and adding to my piercings. I’m very old and my remaining hair is a kind of fright-wig white and takes shape as if I’m holding tightly to a Van der Graaf generator.

I really like — love— my tattoo. On the back of my neck with some bright and wicked colors.

There are many ways to becoming a visual non-conformist. The way that we dress, the way that our particular presentation introduces us to others.

I find that women+tattoos = enormously attractive women. Same with piercings. And a blend of both? God help me! They just got this kinda cool jazz when they walk.

It’s kind of like a club, a Gentleman’s Club, but with women.

It’s an entryway and a clique and I’m amazed by them all, those inked-up women!

I am inked and pierced (although I just removed my tongue bar 6 ga after 7 years). I wish i were brave enough to get a sleeve. What I want is something with my kids' names- too trite? The one people usually can see and that I get comments on is my semicolon.

Also I'm not talking about you specifically. It's just a general response.
I think it's fine as well not to like tattoos or to find them a turn-off, but someone called them "dirty," and that, to me, is crossing a line.

Saying that only working class people get tattoos is incredibly bigoted. What a weird thing to say. I find some tattoos beautiful, but have seen some that are just jaw dropping bad. I don’t have any tattoos and only pierced ears. My personal preference was to not put something permanent on my body that I might get tired of. There was shown on TV where tattoo artists specialized in fixing horrible tattoos. It was pretty interesting.

We could start a thread on what people think of alternatively colored hair.....

It's a generational thing. In my time, tattoos were reserved for sailors and jailbirds.
The day I see Prince Charles with a tattoo, I may change my mind.
