Thank you one and all!

I was able to get some sleep again last night, thankfully.

Today is the anniversary of the plane crash. sad day for everyone who had loved ones on the plane. The family has never been the same since losing 4 members that day.

Just trying to get through the day.

Thanks for all of your love and support.

Saw my pdoc today. She wants to change meds a little. I need an EKG first, as we need to rule out QTc prolongation first, from the citalopram I already take and before we add another med which also has QTc prolongation potential.

Some pdocs/pharmacists will allow 2 meds with this potential, without an EKG, some will not. She will not, nor will my pharmacist.

Benzos are not working for sleep anymore. Adding Seroquel or trazedone, etc., is not an option until the EKG is done.

Ii had spent 3 hours finding the right place to get an EKG done and then... there was too much red tape to sort out today to get it done. I had to leave the medical center w/o an EKG.

I will make more calls about this tomorrow.

UGGH.

I am irritable.

Thanks for all of the wonderful support.
Love to all!

QT prolongation is a big deal. I had it with all APs and Depakote. Thankfully not long enough to cause problems except for Geodon. The cardiologist was freaking out about that.

Hope you were able to do your EKG.

Lots of love and hugs to you.

Can your family dr do the EKG? I know mine can because he did one with my "welcome to Medicare" visit.

More red tape.
Unable to get EKG done today.

The local university medical center makes it very tough to get tests done which are ordered by independent/private practitioners. They'd wanted my pdoc's notes in order to do an EKG; I fought them on that and it looks like they are going to have to do the EKG anyway now. We will see.

My pdoc wrote a perfectly valid prescription for an EKG. This university health/medical center has been trying to drive private docs out of business, if they cannot be bought out by the university.

Otherwise, a very long day.

A very rough day overall.

Exhausted. In pain.

Love to All!

Wow. I'm very sorry that getting the EKG is proving to be so frustratingly difficult. I feel so angry when I hear of such things in the medical field.

My family doc is within the university health care center; his office was demanding the pdoc's notes. They said he'd use the notes to write another prescription for an EKG. The EKG would be done at the same cardiology outpatient center where they are supposed to do them for all docs.
My pdoc has already written the prescription/order. (They would disregard my pdoc's order and put one in by one of their own docs IF I will give them my pdocs notes. No!!! I do not agree to give then private notes and I don't like how they are trying to disempower her right to write an EKG order and have it honored.)

In the meantime... I end up having to argue the points and have to wait for someone to pull their head out of their ***.

Great suggestion! I had immediately approached my family doc to get the EKG done right in his office; they do it for pre-op visits every day. I refuse to give them my pdoc's notes. They refuse to do the EKG w/o the notes. They will not honor her prescription/order.

I hope it will get finalized soon, with a favorable decision.

Thanks for the suggestion! Ordinarily, it would make sense.

Saw my rheumatologist. She'd suggested trying melatonin 3-10mg. (for sleep) while awaiting an EKG and any additional med change. She did not want to step on the toes of the pdoc, of course. (My rheumy is also in private practice, has refused to sell her practice to the university and contends with the same types of obstacles with the university system.)

She also endorses MMJ for sleep, for pain, etc. I have bad reactions/intolerances to so many meds.

For tonight, I will try melatonin, rapid release, 3 mg.

Thanks again!

I hope the melatonin helps. It really put me out when I tried it but I'm sensitive to everything. My 4 year old niece is on it (a tiny homeopathic dose) and it's amazing. Bedtime has gone from 3 hours to stories and out. She wakes up alert and with no side of the stuff.

Good luck!

I was soo tired, I'd slept an hour, but then wide awake. Got up and found the melatonin and took it late. Still time to try it tonight.

Thank you!!!

I am so sorry that you are getting the run around and totally in awe that you are keeping your cool through this ordeal of getting an EKG on top of not sleeping.

I hope it gets done today and you get some meds for sleep.
