Something I have noticed tends to happen when I don't take my medicine (which in this case is because I'm out and I don't have an appointment for the pdoc for awhile) is I will hear voices. Now.. I think they're voices. It's more like my ears are trying to make sense of some sounds that it hears without understanding where the source is... if that makes sense. I kind of brush it off everytime as that, but with the connection to not taking my medicine, I'm curious.
What are your experiences with hearing voices? Do they kind of sound like whispers or like they could possibly be caused by some background noise? Do you notice it even when you take your meds? Either way I will probably mention this to my therapist and pdoc if I notice it becoming more prevalent. Looking forward to hearing from you all! |

Hi Brentus,
It's good to have you posting! I am not sure what you mean by background noise. I hear music and talk radio, sometimes, with white noise. The white noise may be coming from an air conditioner or a fan, for example. This happens on occasion for me and is very bothersome when it happens. I know other friends here have had a variety of experiences with "voices." I hope to see you around. ![]() WC

I hear voices- always on meds. They are when just laying in bed or when the tv is on or once when the cable box began giving me commands in a negative way.

I haven't heard voices or music for a long time, but had a period when they were quite distressing. I was on medication at the time, and honestly don't remember really being in a major mood episode. My psychiatrist eventually put me on Tegretol XR and when I reached therapeutic level they did stop. It was a huge relief! That was almost 8 years ago.
Though I have had some auditory hallucinations when manic, my psychosis is more often in the form of delusions or visual hallucinations. I was manic and psychotic this past May and had both. I don't understand how/why you ran out of medications before your next psychiatrist appointment. Did you misplace some? Or take more than prescribed? Did an earlier appointment get cancelled unexpectedly? Or was your psychiatrist so delinquent that he/she did not prescribe enough for you to last until your next appointment? If the latter, you should really discuss this with him/her. That would be very delinquent of them. If you are having any kind of hallucinations or negative side effects from not taking medications, I urge you to call your doctor's office and let them know this. They should at least call in a new prescription to your pharmacy even before your next appointment. |
