I’m wondering if anyone else finds mood trackers practically useless.

I read of so many folk with Bipolar that swear by mood trackers. I’ve tried Daylio several times only to delete it then try again months later.

I don’t know if it’s due to my often being in a mixed state, but I open it up and then realize that I don’t know how I feel, or if what I think that I feel is accurate.

Do any of you find mood trackers to be useless, or are just unable to accurately track your moods? It makes me feel like a failure when so many find great use in them.

They don't work well for me either. I'm usually mixed and it makes it impossible to know where to put the number. I did use one that allowed multiple daily entries and that worked but was messy and only showed my moods were at all extremes, which we knew.

The only suggestion I have is to try other apps. I've heard Optomism is good. I can't remember what I've used but I'll post if I remember.

I hadn’t heard of these before. I guess it would make sense. There’s an app for everything, I guess. I don’t think it would benefit me either. Often, I am mixed according to pdoc, but what I mostly feel is depressed, anxious, panicky. Though of course, I can see where pdoc ends up getting mixed. I do have a lot of that too...talking fast, cannot sit still, easy distraction, a couple other manicky traits...or is it ADD? Or anxiety?

I’d drive myself crazy if I had to keep track of it every day, give myself numbers and such. No thank you.

I use Daylio, I like it because you can add your own mood icons. I have used it for awhile. It helps me sometimes when I go to therapy or doc, that I can look back on my week or month to see how I was. It also has icons for things you have done that day like good meal, family, relax, TV. I had another one that was way to complcated but I do not remember the name.

I’m progressively becoming less tech savvy. So apps aren’t that great. My DH has created a spreadsheet and that’s working for me despite frequent mixed moods.

I used Daylio this month and it helped me a lot with tracking the basic mood swings related to my period, but it didn't really capture a lot of the nuances like irritability. I also don't think it would have helped me much at all in a mixed state, because how do you capture multiple extremes at once? Maybe there are some apps for that but Daylio is too simple.

EMoods for bipolar is easy to use. Includes irritability, weight, and has a notes section which is great. You track up and down, not just one, so it’s great for mixed.
