I got this idea from fuzzybear (thanks fuzzy!)
how many of you have plans for funerals, or written wills, or special last requests, etc etc I feel this is important- so far I have planned my funeral, and I have expressed what I want done with my body, not yet written a will though you just never know when it's time... I like being prepared |

I've been thinking of this recently too. My friend's a solicitor and I spoke to her about wills. She says in my area unsure if it's UK all over. There is a thing called will aid. Places like blackadders etc do this and request you give money to charity of their choice I guess it's at a lower rate than they would charge. I think it's in Nov but I'm very anxious about this so still haven't done anything with it. Talking about death or anything like this makes my anxieties heightened massively.

I've been thinking about about doing that, too, not that I'm expecting anything to happen. I had mentioned it to my sister a while back. Since then she and her husband have completed this task, but not my husband and me. If something were to happen to both hubby and me at the same time, everything would likely go to my dad, if he is still alive. I love my dad, but he spends all his money on booze and women. I'd rather my nephew and two of my husband's nephews be the beneficiaries. Hubby and I are the youngest among our siblings. It's possible some of them might outlive us, but in the case of mine, they will inherit from my dad if he has anything left when he passes. I look at these nephews I mentioned as the children we never had.

I don’t care about my funeral (I’ll be dead, do what you want) but I do want to write a will so that my son goes to his aunt and uncle in the event of my death. I don’t want him to end up in foster care or with my mom. She won’t be able to handle him.

Oddly enough, I pretty much "wrote" a small part of my will at work. I had to say who would get my money, 401k payments, etc if I were to pass away. I thought it was a morbid question, because I've never seen anything like it before, but i guess it's fair? Or maybe it's just a Massachusetts thing. Dunno.
I said 50% to my dad and 50% to my mom. I have a sister, but she's completely irresponsible with money. She'll just blow it all on random crap, like clothes, jewelry, alcohol, partying, etc, instead of investing it or helping her pay off student loans. Then she'll end up begging people for money like she always does. So no, she's getting none of it. If my parents were to die, then my disabled iraq veteran cousin would get it. (He was a paratrooper and now has back problems and PTSD.) He needs money for so many things and he struggles everyday. Well, I'd also give some to my other cousin (his brother). Sorry, sister, but you will just blow all the money while my cousin will continue to barely get by. It's f***ed up for you to be so selfish. |

I also think about this. I have only 2 concerns.
My cats (terrible fear that they wouldn't be properly cared for and loved). My obit to be properly written as a genuine representation of who I was. There is nothing else to be dealt with, certainly no money. Maybe just my cousin's ashes. |

My body goes to the big oven. To burn for hours in my journey to hell.
Althought I'm not sure Superman can die like any other mortal soul. Kryptonite oven maybe?. My material possesions, if I have any at the end, (I plan to spend every penny I can get a hold of in Gentlemen clubs) go to La Bruja. Except for a 5 acres tract that will go in it's entirety (my part and hers) to help the blinds. Whatever comes from the oven, probably mixed with the ashes of a thousand other corpses, goes to the Neptune Society underwater mausoleum in Key Biscayne. To be mixed with all the stiff's ashes that died at the time of my departure, and concrete. I'm suggesting a Superman statue, but they don't bite yet. They don't consider me serious enough to have a statue there. Or else, I can be anything but a bench. I don't want divers planting their assets in my face. This is the only solution to avoid my kids from peeing in my grave. And I'm sure they will still try, when they find out there's nada for them.

I don't have a will (I don't have anything anymore, so is there really a point..(??)). But I do have an advance directive and very much stress that I want to be cremated. For a number of reasons.

Funny you should mention it...I had a conversation about this very thing with my son this afternoon. Of course he was like, "Mom, you're not planning to die or anything, are you?" But I insisted on clueing him in on some things I want, such as a Catholic funeral and to be cremated. I told him I want a funeral Mass just like his Dad's, with the same songs and scripture readings which all have to do with resurrection. I also want his brother to do the eulogy because he did my husband's, and he was wonderful.
It's too bad death is still one of the last taboo subjects that nobody wants to talk about. It's going to happen to each and every one of us, so why the difficulty? I never really thought about my own mortality until my husband died, but now that he's gone and I'm turning 60, the topic does come up every now and then. It needs to. I don't want to leave my kids unprepared, not that I'm planning to make my exit anytime soon, but I am getting older and I'm not in the best of health either mentally or physically. My parents also died young (59 and 66). There's cancer on one side of my family and heart disease on the other...but I don't worry too much about it because knowing me, I'll probably do something stupid like trip over my dog and choke to death on a spoonful of peanut butter. Haha!

I am still too young to think about that (un????)fortunately? However, I'd want to have donate whatever I earned (my 'wealth') to medical research & encourage young students to take up the STEM subjects SOMEHOW if possible anyhow. I am not gonna marry or have kids so I wouldn't worry about a wife or kids.
I also would like to have If my relatives listen to it and find it too weird, the totally next to it suggestion would be |

I actually just posted my wishes on fb for all to see. Donate organs. Cremate in cheapest box possible. Spread ashes in forest. Have an epic 80s themed party in my memory. Stuff goes to my family. Most of all I have said to my friends and family: dont get caught in grief over me, that would make me sad. Remember we are here for a good time.
Will shall come soon to make it all official. |

But we shouldn't think negatively... many people live to see tomorrow, including most of those around you.

This thread actually inspired me to draft something to show hubby. I haven't yet showed him because I think it best to do so on the weekend, instead of at night after his work. I also printed out the Psychiatric Advance Directive for my state, and started to fill it out. I obviously need to talk to some other people besides my husband about these things. Like who would be the executor of my will if my dear husband passes before me. That person would surely be different if we live in Europe at the time instead of the US. Of course I don't know if my older siblings will outlive me. Maybe. Wills do change.
As for my Psychiatrist Advance Directive, if my hubby is alive and well enough he would handle things in my absence. If he's not, I'd need someone as a backup to do so. They'd need to be willing and able to access my home and perhaps even handle my bills, depending on the length of time. I guess decisions about other things would need to be addressed, too. I like the idea of being an organ donor, but I'm middle aged now and some of my organs have minor issues. Last edited by Anonymous46341; Oct 02, 2018 at 10:27 AM. |

There are various parts to this planning. Last will and testament which would include burial or cremation and details for the service, memorial, or party, who is to do the eulogy or remembrance speech/s; medical and/or psych directive, organ donation. You can do these in a simple or detailed way via the laws of yr state. Handwritten unwitnessed wills are legal in my state so I just updated mine and sent copies to h, son and brother. H hates to plan anything but his stock transactions (including medical strategies) so I get to force him and it has been such fun, not. LOL. Thanks for this topic.

I've a very simple Will. Everything goes to my daughter and I wish to be cremated. Planing on picking out a urn, there's many pretty one but so far the ones I like best are for pets! I don't want people "viewing my dead body! Ugh. Instead they can look at a pretty urn and celebrate life.

Forgot to add the my PAD and medical AD are outdated so this is a good reminder that I need to update them and turn a copy of both into my current Doctor. They are also pretty simple, no drastic measures and no tube feeding to keep me alive.
