Am I alone on this or does self discipline or behavioral activation not do ****? I was trying so hard with behavioral activation but no matter what "enjoyable" activity I try I don't enjoy it and feel more irritable. The alternative is laying on the couch staring up at the ceiling which doesn't feel enticing either. I'm on disability and can't hold a job. I'm trying behavioral activation because I need to stay busy. It's exhausting. Do I need to give it more time or is self discipline worthless right now?

Can you set small obtainable goals ?

You can always do the 15 minute timer , set it and work til it dings. Then take a break over and over ..... all theses 15 mins adds up That to me is the easiest way to start building a routine.

Anything is possible if you keep chipping away at something

I hear you on that. It does seem impossible. I have to start with an activity that is really small....schedule a time to do it and then force myself to follow through even if that’s all I accomplish that day.

Many days I still struggle but it does get easier.

I know how frustrating and disheartening it is. I hope you find something that works for you.
