Im having a horrible time with dry eyes and dry mouth from Seroquel. I've been on it for a week and a half. Its so bad that when I wake up my mouth can't open until I drink some water. Plus, my eyes have no tears. An eyelash got in my eye and it was difficult to get out. I'm grumpy about this! I don't want cataracts or tooth decay! I see pdoc monday morning. I took my dose tonight but I don't think I will tomorrow.

sorry to hear you are going thru these side effects. yuck. I was on Seroquel a long time and don't recall any side effects other than weight gain but everyone is different. definitely bring it up to your pdoc. dry eyes and mouth must really suck. you shouldn't have to suffer any of that. best of luck. hope it all works out. keep us posted!

They are awful side effects. I can understand you wanting to get off Seroquel. When I was on it in doses up to 400 mg I had severe drowsiness, acting drunk, restless legs, and weight gain. I don't recall getting dry though but it wouldn't surprise me. I hope your pdoc can offer some help. I found much lower doses ok, but it only helped me sleep, rather than be an antipsychotic or mood stabiliser.

Moose72, I'm sorry you have side effects that bother you a lot about Seroquel. Like Wander, my side effects from Seroquel are quite minimal. In fact, I have been happier with Seroquel XR than I have been with any other bipolar medication I have ever taken. For me, it's a great med.

I'm currently on 600 mg of Seroquel XR. I wish I was on less, but if I was, I'd likely be hospitalized. When my mood stabilizes for a while, my dose will be decreased. At lower doses, it can be weight neutral for me. I am fortunate that, unlike some people, my weight gain has not been that large from Seroquel XR. If I could just lose 10 lbs, I'd be the same weight I was at my highest before ever having taken a bipolar medication. That was still a bit overweight, though. That was about 17 years ago. Who knows, I might have been my current weight by now even if I was never on bipolar meds.

I have luckily never had dry mouth/eyes from Seroquel, to my knowledge. Perhaps that side effect will eventually ease for you. All the best!

I get really dry mouth fairly often too, I take 400mg, it happens as soon as I'm walking around outside without water so I always have to bring gum and/or a water bottle with me

I bought some biotine mouth spray and eye drops. They help but its not to "normal" yet.

I have extra moisturizer eye drops I use probably 5 times a day. I also use Biotene for mouth dryness about the same.

I drink over a gallon of water a day , yet I’m dry as a bone. It’s a terrible side effect of all kinds of medications. It’s the top listed side effect of any med.

On a happy note dry eyes don’t cause cataracts.

Biotene has lozenges now ! They really help when I’m on the go.

I'm sorry to hear you are experiencing these side effects. On high doses of Seroquel, I noticed dry mouth was really bad. My nose became stuffy at night where it interfered with my breathing, which was a weird side effect. I also notice I get dry eye, but I now use Clear Eye drops, which help.

After lowering Seroquel, the side effects are not nearly as bad, but my pdoc had to add on another medication. I hope your med visit goes well and that your pdoc comes up with a plan that works out much better for you.
