No. I am not the biggest fan of shopping. I really don't like clothes shopping and I try not to spend a lot of money on myself. I usually wait until a huge sale or clearance comes along and then I buy a bunch of options online. I try them all on in the comfort of my home and then I take the rest back. Its usually a big stack, but I don't feel uncomfortable.

Do you enjoy shopping for gifts for others?

Usually not, but occasionally I stumble upon a really on the mark gift that I'm excited to give.

Q: What was your favorite gift ever for a holiday or birthday?

My sense of humour. It's strange, but totally amazing. At least for me...

Do you like giving gifts to other people?

No, I really don't, and avoid doing so. I'm more than happy not to receive gifts, either. I know, I am a scrooge. However, I must give my husband gifts because he is like a little boy and adores them. He loves giving me gifts. Sometimes I manage to find the perfect gifts for him and they make him very excited. That does make me happy. Fortunately, gift giving is not customary in my family beyond childhood. Or at least it's limited to a degree. I give my dad gifts, but my siblings and I don't exchange beyond cards and calls.

Q: What was a gift you gave someone that you know they truly loved?

I gave my friend who was leaving a card, and the first thing he said was I can't wait to show my dad!. so I know he liked that

do you ever get to the end of the day and think " I should have done more?"

All the time. I try to remember though that life is a marathon and the next day is an opportunity to live to the fullest.

How often do you take the time to have gratitude for the gifts in your life?

Nearly every.single.day. It started when I moved into where I live. I love it so much. Then, more recently I got a job I love. And the simple fact of being able to melt into a comfy bed with comfy covers at the end of a long day... yeah. It's my "happy place". What's not to be grateful for?

How often do you take the time to tell people how much they mean to you?

probably not enough.

that's partly because I can't think of anyone who does mean something to me.

I think litirally the only time I make it known if a friend is moving away or is ill, or what ever. I'll make them a card or something

but it's not a daily thing for me

question: what is one quality that you really don't want in someone (the worst quality for you.)

For me, the worst quality would have to be deception.

Some of both. I do get up at almost the same exact time each morning (6:45 or 7 am) and make breakfast and take my morning medications. Then hubby leaves for work at the same time (9 am) on work days. Between then and dinner preparation time I do various errands and chores, but do so at various times. Nowadays, I have Wednesday volunteering in the morning, so leave at the relevant time and then usually pick up something at a store on my way home. I always have my therapy at 2 pm on Tuesdays. Every 2 to 3 weeks I have my psychiatrist appointment usually on a Wednesday or Thursday afternoon. Lately, I have been going to AA about twice per week at 12:15 pm, after which I usually go to the store. I start dinner at between 6 pm and 6:30 pm, doing some chores in the interim. Dinner is always at 7:10 pm, with evening meds. Then hubby and I watch recorded shows on TV, and then the news.

Q: Do you like to cook? If so, what is your favorite dish (or baked good) to make?

Yes! My favorite is anything that can be made with things right from the garden. I make an end of the gardening year “summer mash up” soup which is just anything that is left that I don’t know what else to do with. It’s always different and always great. Of non-garden things, my favorite is probably holiday baking. IDK how much anyone outside my family would like anything I make — its all very Sicilian and doesn’t really translate to typical American taste well. The only other place I’ve ever even seen most of the things are in the Sicilian bakery downtown.

Q: Do you take more after your mom’s side or your dad’s side?

I would be very interested in learning about your Sicilian holiday baking. I'm not sure if I would be familiar with all of what you make, but there is a great tradition of having Italian bakeries in my area of the US, though I know Italy is quite large and has varied traditions. Every year I enjoy panettone, varied buttery decorated cookies, sfogliattele, cannoli, almond horns, and similar. I regret that I have never been to Sicily. Only in northern Italy down to Roma.

A: I am a bit of a mix in terms of looks and personality from both sides of my family. I was closer to my paternal grandparents than my maternal ones, though I was very close to my mother more than my dad. My dad's side had the better senses of humor and high spirits, loving music, nature, and the sea. My mom's side were more puritanical and stiff, though my maternal great grandmother was a feisty lady.

Q: Did/do you have a favorite grandparent? What is it about them that you love(d) the most?

my grandmother was a really good cook (especially when it came to roast dinners)

what was even more amazing is that she'd make sure that I had enough even before she sat down. she was very thoughtful in that respect

question: how do you feel about halloween?. will you do something for it or are you planning to avoid it entirely

My husband and I no longer give out candy. It was my husband's idea to stop because we got so many trick or treaters, but we did participate in our early marriage. Generally I like Halloween, and loved it as a child. Though we don't go to parties or answer the door, we still have a lovely Halloween tradition. Halloween night is the first night we light our fireplace, as the nights are already getting chilly. It's romantic!

Q: How long before Christmas (if you celebrate it) do you start to decorate for it? If you don't celebrate Christmas, do you still decorate your home in some way for the winter holidays?

I remember 1 year (a mannic year) I had my decorations up by the middle of april, and I kept them up until the end of january until the following year.

usually the start of december though. even if I decorate at all

I don't " hate" christmas, but I spend it alone so tend not to go mad.

what's better?. dogs or cats

Love them both. Working on trying to get myself a dog at the moment, as I think it might help me with the depression and SI stuff. Looking at German Shepherds. I did not realize they were so expensive!

Dogs for sure. I've had one dog or another since I was a little girl. They are so friendly and loving.

Q - what did you eat for lunch today?

I confess that I went to Surf Taco and had one Mahi Mahi soft taco with tortilla chips and Salsa Verde, with a Diet Coke. They have these new straws made from actual straw. Cool!

Q: What is your latest interesting discovery?

Yes. I've spent time in over 25 countries (30 if you count airports and quick drive throughs) and lived briefly in a couple beyond my own. [Visited 34/40 US states.] I consider myself to be open-minded about many things. I love to learn about the arts, history, social issues, politics, the environment/nature, languages/linguistics, and more, and am generally more knowledgeable about them than a lot of people. I've had the luck and benefit to be exposed to many things because of my life choices/priorities. Obviously, I have plenty that I'm not knowledgeable about.

Q: What is something that you would do if you were given $25,000 today?
