I have been suffering for awhile with voices in my head. They keep telling me people are going to hurt me or people are talking poorly about me behind my back. I feel like I cant control my emotions or my thoughts. I have been having some compulsive behavior that could put me or others in danger. I dont try to communicate with people or simply look at anyone because I am afraid of what I may hear or see. I think I also have hallucinations. When i get in my car if im alone, after driving for awhile a random person will appear and they start telling me bad things about other drivers on the road and how they will try to run me off the road. It makes me very scared and paranoid. Any suggestions???????

Hi pricehaylein, that does sound scary. I am sorry you are experiencing those symptoms. I recently had hallucinations and it can be quite difficult to deal with. I was wondering if you have a psychiatrist or if you're currently taking any meds. It sounds like maybe you need a med adjustment. Also, are you in any form of therapy? It would be a good idea to discuss these thoughts over regularly.
You seem self aware that what you are experiencing is hallucinations. That's a good sign. Hopefully you can tell yourself they are a symptom of your brain acting up and do your best to ignore them. I encourage you to keep us posted. Sometimes just talking about what you're going through helps. Hugs, and I hope you are able to find the help you need. |

Hi priceheylein. You appear to be new to Psych Central. We're happy you joined us. I'm sorry, though, that you are feeling so unwell and experiencing such painful things. I second the wise things that fern46 wrote above. I also hope that you will contact your psychiatrist and/or therapist right away, if you have one. If not, I encourage you to notify your general doctor. We want you to be safe and to feel better. Many of us have experienced things similar to what you describe. As fern46 wrote, it is good that you have some insight to know that you're having hallucinations. I'll tell you that proper treatment, therapy, and time will make them stop and you'll feel better.

1) If you have never seen a psychiatrist, then I recommend getting an appointment with your general practitioner (family doctor) ASAP and tell him of her what's going on. He/she can make a referral if he/she feels it's necessary.
2) If you are currently seeing a psychiatrist, then I would call the office, tell them what's going on, and try to get in ASAP. In any case the people at his/her office will direct you as to what you should do. |
