Has anyone tried using a weighted blanket? How is it working out for you? I have been thinking about purchasing one on and off for years. Yesterday, I bought one off of Amazon. This was rather thoughtless of me since I will not be able to afford to ship it back. Walmart has one that I could of tried for the same price. Oh well. I think this blanket will help relax me, and help me sleep. I sure hope this turns out to be true.

I have two. One is a plush blanket and the other is a cooling blanket. Basically, winter and summer.
They help me relax and stay asleep -- although admittedly, the "winter" blanket makes me too hot sometimes. But it’s not a big deal if I pull the blanket up and let my feet out from underneath. Letting my feet "air out" (or however you want to put it?) prevents me from overheating. FWIW, I have a 15 lb blanket and the general guideline is to get a blanket that's 10% of your body weight, and although I am roughly 100 lbs, I do not have a problem with a 15 lb blanket. In fact, I could probably even go with a 20 lb blanket and be fine. I find the weight soothing and do not feel "pinned down," unlike some people. (Some people do feel pinned down, so it's a matter of preference and comfort.) |

Do you have a Kohls's nearby? You can return Amazon items there now and they handle the shipping.

I've had weighted blankets for many years, much longer than it has been a trend. I used them professionally and after seeing how they calmed my patients I bought one for myself. The first night I slept better than I ever had before. I got a really nice 22 lb one several months later and then acquired a couple lighter ones for travel. I love them and sleep so much better. I also curl up under one if I'm anxious or upset or manic and feeling too sensitive to sounds and light.
I hope yours helps you. And as Fern said you can return through Kohls now.

I bought a weighted blanket from Costco just this past week. It has helped me sleep better but more significantly has helped with my anxiety and panic attacks. It was a good investment.

I ordered a 15 lb blanket that is 48"x 72". Currently, I sleep on a sofa. I can always purchase a larger one when I go back to sleeping on a bed. I have only found the heavier blankets in larger sizes. I guess I can purchase a larger one, and then double it over.

I just got mine out. Haven't used it in probably a year. It feels good under my regular bed coverings. Its a 20 pounder. I got it when I was 30 pounds heavier but it still feels cozy.

I wish I could get one and use it.. I am just too hot all the time. I can’t even keep my thin sheet on me most of the year. Even in winter I’m more likely to trade my yoga pants for shorts at bedtime.

I love my weighted blanket. It was too warm to use over the summer, but now I'm going to start using it again.

I have now used my new weighted blanket several times. Seems to be helping me, particularly when I normally begin the day feeling depressed. I need it to weigh more. In the future, I will purchase a heavier weighted blanket, perhaps 25 pounds.
BTW one day I woke up finding my new big puppy laying on top of me sleeping. This is when I decided that the extra weight, minus the puppy, can help me. LOL

Tucson, does the blanket feel hot? They sound good but not sure about the heat factor and how it would go with claustrophobia?
