I'm having a bad day, but I'm not even mad and my mood is great. My phone fell in the toilet (thankfully before I actually went to the bathroom), I had diarrhea 2 hrs later (I think from propranolol), I lost my work badge somewhere in the city (the clip snapped off), and I missed a really important Skype meeting because I couldn’t login because I had no phone for 2 factor authentication.
I ended up going to a Verizon store nearby and it took 2 hours and $400 to get this new phone, and somewhere between then and now, I lost my badge. Considering I walked 2 f***ing miles to get to the Verizon store and even bought lunch, it could be ANYWHERE. Now it takes 1-2 weeks to get a badge for work. And of course my day couldn’t get any worse because I still have stuff to do until 8pm tonight for work because I lost time during the day when I had to get the phone. So only THEN, at 8pm, can I go home. I have been here since 6am after getting caught in dead stop traffic at 5am. I am dying... But I do have to say: not everyday will be a bad day. There are just some days that will be bad no matter what you do, but there will also be good days no matter what you do. I hope tomorrow is a better day. I'm sure it will be. On the upside, I realized how addicted I am to my phone and I learned how much more productive I am without it. I tried to turn it on like 15 times out of habit. I was like, "oh, that's right... R.I.P. phone." I think I am now gonna turn my phone off when I don't need it. But I am on break now, so I am gonna use it for a bit. ![]() Oh, and guess what? The guy at the Verizon store said he dropped his phone in the airport toilet before, so I am not alone. lol. (Well, I am sure the airport toilet is way worse because Boston-Logan is, well... yeah... Pretty disgusting. At least our work toilets are clean.) I think I need a shower though after putting my hand depths of the toilet. Good thing the water wasn't "brown." ![]() |

Poor blue! You've described a pretty frustrating day, for sure.
Good insights about phone use, though. I think that if everyone used their phone half as much life would be less stressful and more enjoyable. I had to send my phone away to be repaired and, besides having no phone in case of a car breakdown, I certainly don't miss my phone. Yes, I use my PC, but when I go to the store or wherever my PC isn't with me. I can actually focus on what I'm dong, rather than focusing on my computer or the latest text that demands my attention. I'm pretty sure that your tomorrow will be a better day! ![]()

Good job getting through this rough day like a trooper! It's odd how "when it rains it pours". Hopefully once everything is resolved for you, all will run smoothly for a long time.
I hope the propranolol hasn't given you the big "D". It never gave me that that I'm aware of and I've been taking it for at least 11 years. Perhaps it's something else. Certainly your day could cause anyone gastrointestinal distress. ![]() |

Hey Blue!
![]() ![]() Often, these days, a phone is quite needed, or so it seems. I often leave mine home, especially if there is a phone in the group. Only one needed should there be an emergency. I am getting increasingly impatient with people reading their phones and texting at meals. Much of this teaches people to be absent from their immediate environment It's increasingly difficult to find people genuinely working on being Present for themselves and/or in their relationships with others. I heard a lady telling a story about her "lunch group," who are old friends all getting together once a month for lunch. The first gathering was horrible. Everyone was on their phones. texting, etc. At the beginning of the second meeting, Cindy asked the whole group to place their phones in the middle of the table. She'd then explained that the first person to pick up their phone, before the lunch gathering had officially ended, had to pay the tab for the group! ![]() I've also heard of hostesses taking both coats and phones at the door! Imagine that! ![]() I think both strategies get their point across and help to raise consciousness around the chronic obsession with phones/devices. "Be where you are!" ![]()

I'm thinking about doing an experiment, though: I might go to work on Friday (since I can work from home and normally work from home on Fridays) and just keep my phone off the whole day since I don't have any meetings. I might also keep my phone off the whole weekend just to see what I can get done. |

I hope Cindy's approach worked! Though, I'm sure there are some people who plain don't give a sh_t and won't pay no matter what. |
