Hi Christina, my friend. I was wondering... Is this the worst health Steve has experienced since you've been with him? If not, then he has been able to get passed it in the past. If this is the sickest he's been, then I see the great possibilies of positive recovery despite. Bpcyclist's story about his patient whose severe skin (cancer?) disappeared is not a rare one. As terrible as things get, a turn around can definitely be on the horizon. Steve, as you describe him, is a strong and determined man.

Steve is amazingly lucky to have you. Imagine if he didn't? I know that perhaps mentioning this does little to provide relief, in the present, but it is so significant.

I'm happy to read that you have Steve home again, Christina. I'm sorry to learn that he has diabetes. I hope with the diabetes treatment those symptoms will be relieved quickly, so he can concentrate more easily on fighting the others.

oh I am so glad it was a short visit to the hospital.
diabetes can be well controlled If he is on prednisone then that could have increased his blood sugars for sure!with a controlled diet he may not need to take medication in the future. watch out for low blood sugars. See a dietician if you can.
lots of love to you both.

Thanks everyone !

We saw our Doctor today and we went over all the hospital stuff.. He will be on Prednisone for 5 days so his blood sugar will remain high, But Metforim ER 500mg once a day for 5 days then increase to 1000mg ER a day and between dietary changes we will start getting his diabetes under control. Spend about 20 mins on him.

We both fell into bed early last night and I finally slept, I Woke up coughed and breathed in and Boom UGH I am sick burning bronchial tubes, wheezing , sore throat. So after we got Steve squared away and I hopped on the table and said I need Augmentin 875mg for 10 days and Prednisone 20mg for 10 days, Belinda took a look, listened, laughed and said Yup your right LOL ...

Steves boys think He needs to see Doctors up in Nashville because they are" better... Small town Doctors arent as good" The Doctors in Florida for those 8 months? Were trying to walk out the door in 5 mins and would have told me to make an appt which would have been a week later.

So finally I can give an update that is GOOD a long time coming .. Thank all of you so much for hanging in there with me during such a very very hard time .. Love you all

I am so glad you finally have a concrete plan and diagnosis. Your doctor sounds great. I actually followed my small town dr to the city and have driven to see him for a good 10-12 years. He's the best. I go to the big hospital for complicated stuff, usually MAOI related but for the normal stuff he's super.

I'm so glad you've rested although I'm so sorry you are sick. That was probably predictable after the stress and lack of sleep. I hope your antibtiocs and steroids kick in quickly.

Ughh. I have met PLENTY of awful doctors when I lived in downtown Boston. A lot of the ones who teach at Harvard and work in top hospitals (e.g., MGH) are cocky mofos. They think because they work at the top university and top hospitals that it automatically means they are gods who can do no wrong. Of course not all of them are bad, but a lot of them have a huge stick up their @sses. It's a huge turnoff.

I am glad you are sticking with your own doctors. If they help you and they do a good job, I see no reason to go to Nashville... but that is obviously just my (uneducated) opinion.
