I'm 35 years old. I live alone for last 7 years. I moved into my parents 18th March due to COVID-19 as we went on lockdown and they were shielding. Since before May my Dad has been nit picking on me. Every small thing has been criticized and complained at and scrutinised.

I can take it anymore I've cracked and I am moving back home on Sunday night.

Problem.... I'm worried I won't survive this as I'm struggling and that's with people around me 24/7. I suffer from psychosis and I'm worried I will succumb to it. I get weekly phone calls from my Therapist twice a week and once a week from my Peer Support Worker. It will make talking to them easier I suppose

I haven't told my parents I'm going home I just said I'm going home tomorrow (Tuesday) to tidy up

Any ideas or wise words I could use some.

Well, Miss Laura, I am so proud of you for standing up for yourself. Good for you!!

As far as this psychosis, what are your current meds for that? How often do you talk with your psychiatrist, I forget? I also forgot if you have a local support group there. Are you kind of near Edinburgh or Glasgow, or did I just like, totally invent that?

Sending you strength and support!! You can do this, Miss Laura. But you need to get a plan. When are you planning on leaving?

Thank you so much bpcyclist,

I currently take Depakote 1,000mg, Aririprazole 25mg and Propranolol 80mg daily. Propranolol is for anxiety and high blood pressure.

I last spoke to my Psychiatrist 3 months ago I speak to him again in 20 days from tomorrow. I usually see/speak to him every 6 months.

Yeah I live not far from both Glasgow and Edinburgh but the group is off due to COVID-19. I haven't been since November.

I'm planning on going home this Sunday night if my Sister agrees to this as she has loads of concerns

Oh, okay, Miss Laura. Got it. I love that part of Scotland. So beautiful and such kind and sweet people! I had dinner in the Stirling Castle one magical night for a work thing. Fantastic!!

So, Miss Laura, I really feel if you are having some active psychotic symptoms that you need to be in touch wiht that doctor so he can maybe adjust your meds or possibly even add something else. In my experiince dealing with a ton of psychosis over a long time, it needs to be treated aggressively, so you feel better and are safe. I urge you to call him and tell him very honestly what you are experiencing. What are your symptoms, by the way?

Hugs!!

Thanks,

Scotland is pretty cool lol I'm not biased at all lol

I'm currently not displaying any symptoms but I suffer more when alone.

Some symptoms; sever paranoia, talking to people I see, sensing people are there with me

Yeah, symptoms like that, i get those a lot. They are totally treatable and you would feel so much better and more calm and safer if you did that. Please call him and tell him exactly what you are dealing with. There is zero shame in asking for help. None at all. It is his job and he woudl probably feel really badly if he knew you were suffering and he was not trying to help you.

So, please speak up for yourself and stop silently suffering. Love and support!!!!

Have you started to write up a plan on how best to allow you to slip back into living on your own and stay healthy physically and mentally ?

Maybe try to put structure into your daily life to help with stability..

Get up at X
Do XYZ daily
Plan/prepare meals
Exercise daily
List of distractions if you need them

Some people can just " wing it" but for me at least , I need structure and things on my schedule daily to do.. I physically have a list and I love crossing off things on paper.. its a mental thing, but it works for me.

Is your safety plan up to date? Who to call when ?

Hey there,

I went back home to clean my flat.... I'm someday I don't understand it. I can't keep anything clear and clean. I was there for 4.5 hours. I'm going back again maybe Friday.

My plan.... is to survive.... in all honesty I don't have one. There is no structure to my day.... all my activities/appts are cancelled. Due to COVID-19. Technically Scotland is still on lockdown. My mental health services are off until further notice. My volunteering is also off. My therapy is all over the phone.

I kinda don't have a safety plan. I just wing it tbh
