Does anyone else notice mood stuff with the changes of seasons? Summer into Fall really does a number on me. I feel my energy begin to shift at the end of August and I often end up depressed/mixed. Even in the years I was stable, I noticed subtle shifts, but this year is starting to feel hard.
I am also working on a lot of difficult stuff in therapy so that contributes. My mind was playing tricks on me last night, producing SI and making me angry that it’s not practical right now. When is it EVER practical? Fortunately, I see p-doc tomorrow morning and T on Tuesday. |

Most of my hospitalizations have been in the Fall- especially November. I was thinking of that same thing recently- what if I had to go IP now- how impractical that would be what with my moving on the first and all the packing I have to do right now. I'm glad you have appointments with Pdoc and T tomorrow and Tuesday. I just talked with my pdoc on Friday and she said I sound stable. I hope your pdoc and T can smooth things out for you.

I'm with you BNLsMOM. This season change is doing things to me that I've never noticed in the past. I thought I was alone with this. Its causing great confusion and self doubt with me. I hope to bring this up to my T this Wednesday.

For the past about 40 years, I have noticed a pattern of slipping into mild depression in about September and it worsens until December. Anxiety also can increase, perhaps as a response to the depression. Unusually and unexpectedly, last December-February, I went into hypomania.
Having bright full-spectrum (daylight) lights in the mornings usually helps reduce the seasonal depression part for me. Reducing it to where I can cope helps. One day at a time. ![]()

Fall is always hard for me ( currently so) Also March and April...
Bipolar is sneaky and can and will pop up anytime and slap us silly even when doing all the right stuff to prevent it.

Summer is probably the most difficult time for me, and the heat doesn't help things/probably adds to the problem. I'm just happier/more stable in fall and winter

My mind loves fall. Cooler weather, lovely mornings, hopefully some rain. My brain, unfortunately, does not agree. For the past 9 years just at the time change I have slammed down into a severe mixed state of depression and dysphoric, awful mania involving extreme anxiety and "doom" delusions. My last IP was in early November 2 years ago.
Of course, I'm getting anxious just facing that time of year. This summer I've been quite stable...I have my fingers crossed for a smoother fall, but...we shall see. When I was younger it was spring that threw me. My first 2 IP's were in April.

I certainly have had a history of seasonal triggers. As for mania, anywhere from late February to May is a risky period. Especially April and May. Then after that my mood sometimes dips, noticeably or becomes mixed.
I haven't had any significant depression for a long time, but it oddly seems more likely as I mentioned above. Late spring through summer. Autumn is usually a very stable period for me, with some minor mood issues in winter. I am also glad you see your pdoc soon. |

I have a tough time with the changing of the seasons. I do best in summer. The shift to fall is generally the hardest for me come October, but I have issues in winter and spring too. Fall and spring tend to be when I end up mixed.

I usually have gotten depressed in October and hypo or manic late May, June. Last year, I became manic and psychotic in October and remained percolatingly that way until starting Trilfon in May. When my deoeeasion kicked in. Exact opposite.
The other psychologically weird thing for me is that fall is my favorite season in terms of physical and spiritual beauty. I am weird.

November is when mixed episodes reliably kick me in the butt. Also, January/February and late spring/early summer I tend to get manic. I don't get full on "purely depressive" episodes on a yearly basis.
