If someone has emotional wounds do you try to comfort them?

And do you sometimes receive abuse ‘in return’?

I’m tired of being sad all the time.

What helps you aside from meds?

I cannot tolerate meds and I know that many would be ‘dead without them’

I’m having a fang pulled in a few days, I don’t feel quite myself.

Hugs to all

a lot of people take advantage of my nonjudgemental attitude by asking for support they don't really need

by that I mean, people who say I have this issue, or this problem, then going to me later when I've helped them... actually, I didn't have this issue, I just wanted to talk to you.

but I have also had a lot of genuin people ask me for help.

I have

Possible trigger:

helped people with their grief

and even helped 1 guy who was worried about his trip to the doctors

I'm never thanked for it, ever

but I like to think that if I had an issue they would talk to me and treat me the same way as I treat them.

I'm afraid I'm not much good at comforting others. No one ever wanted to hear about what was going on with me emotionally. And so, as a result, I have ended up being a pretty closed system, so to speak. To some extent I guess I always was anyway.

I find your image posts very comforting.

I wonder whether in some cases we perceive that nobody wants to hear (online for example) when in fact some do. But IRL. Yes. Minimization, cutting in when I say one sentence....name calling the list goes on

@Skeezyks - oh and the lists of links you post.. I always look for your posts when I remember Not everyone takes the time to post a meaningful or supportive reply, or even try to. On other forums (I won't name any of them). To me, looking up links that will maybe be relevant is very meaningful. I know some people do not like hugs. But when I post a hug its because I am trying to be supportive

Never thanked? That sounds very extreme. I wonder where that place is.

I try sometimes. Other times I just try to be present. I have been abused by those who are in pain on occasion. I have empathy, but I'm not a punching bag.

I usually distract myself when I'm sad. I call my brothers and we lift each other up. I talk to my husband.

Most of my health strategies do not rely on meds. Meds are just one tool of many. The necessary strategy changes every day.

Sorry about the fang. I always find those types of appointments are much less painful than I make them out to be in my mind. Hugs to you Fuzzy.

Yes, I find joy in comforting others, mostly by listening to them.

I'm sending you love and healing vibes for your fang-pulling session, Fuzzy
