Oh for sure, cold ones. I do dislike having to put on the layers but it’s much better than the heat.

Do you tend to over water or underwater plants? Or do you get it just right? 🪴

Over water but when if I water during the day time I get too much water on the leaves and it burns them which is no good.

Do you prefer morning afternoon or evening appointments?

Afternoon or evening. I'm not awake in the morning.

Do you find yourself continuing to stock up on things that were find early in the pandemic? (I know there are still plenty of shortages so those count as a reason too)

Actually I do. I always make sure we had two unopened TP and I keep the pantry stocked. Not much else though. I’ve always had extra of non- perishable supplies. I buy things like soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes when they are on sale instead of waiting until I run out. But I’ve done that for 40 years. On the other hand I nurse along my electronics until they are obsolete. I just finally this year bought new blankets and 30 years. So I think it all balances out.

Do you recycle ♻️?

Yes but I doubt any of it actually gets recycled.

What's the closest book you have to you?

Hardcover journal I use to write down all the general tidbits, phone numbers, to-do lists and just general info on my everyday life.

Actual book: Robert Heinlein's "Time Enough for Love"

Same question.

My book is in the bedroom, but I have a reader’s digest that just came the other day on my stand. And mum’s library books are on the second shelf. I do want to read her cozy mystery she has though. But first I must finish my two books.

Same question, what’s the closest book to you.

Not too bad! Nice breeze.

Do you still have vinyl? If so, last record you played?

Ever done aqua fitness?

Oh yeah, back in the eighties we shopped at co-ops before it was trendy and things like that were actually cheaper. Now co-ops cost more than the regular store. I kind of liked it.

Do you prefer carob or chocolate?

I'll be honest. I had to Google carob because I had no idea what it was. I've been in that part of the world, but I don't think I've knowingly had anything with it.

What creative work (song, painting, movie, etc) speaks to you on a visceral level?

I guess I must be drawn to Starry Starry Night since that's my Kindle cover. I think I'm drawn to Van Gogh's story as much as anything.

Auto-correct, good or bad?

It has its uses. Definitely helps me with using my phone keypad, given my big fingers.

Somewhere with a rocket ship then I'd hijack it and crash into the moon.

What's your biggest struggle within bipolar?

Questions Bipolar Version #9

Finding a measure of stability. Being able to ride the mental waves as they come.

Last meal you made from scratch? Or what meal you would like to make from scratch?

Nothing fancy. It was scrambled eggs with peppers and onions. I made it in a French hotel room that had a kitchenette. We ate it with baguette and some salad greens for a dinner. Used salt and pepper that was in the mini paper envelopes you get when you get takeout food. Now that I'm home, the next from scratch meal will be a salmon dish with basmati rice and maybe a cucumber-tomato salad. Tomorrow. Keeping it simple for a while, so I can recover. I confess to have bought some ready made meals to help, including beef goulash with Czech dumplings. Just reheat and eat. Maybe some zapped frozen veggies on the side.

What things do you do (cooking or other chores) when you need to take a break?

Sleep schedule. Too much, too little. It usually ends up the same way.

If you're ordering takeout, what's your go to meal?

Now in Czech Republic, I guess as for "take out" it is usually some kind of Czech food or food that Czechs sometimes offer. Examples may be goulash or some nice chicken cutlet with mushroom sauce. Sometimes we go to the hypermarket food court and like their grill options. Grilled tuna with grilled veggies is a favorite. When I lived in New Jersey, I guess pizza or other Italian favorites.

If you could change anything about mental healthcare, what would it be?

I’m not in need of it currently but from my understanding there’s no iop or php in this area. I’d like that to be available. I’m quite sure it is needed too. The clinic I go to have vacancies for pdoc for years. They just in the last year acquired 2 more so they are fully staffed at 3 pdoc and I think 7-8 therapists. But ip is two small units one 40 miles west and the other 50 miles east and as they are small people are usually shipped off out of state. So, a ip unit here would be nice too. And more resources for pure MI, not ties to duel diagnosis. Hmm it seems the longer I type the more I find to change. I’ll stop now!

What’s the one most useful thing that helped you with your symptoms? Doesn’t have to be traditional

It was a meditation exercise where you did deep breathing and focused your thoughts solely on the deep breathing. I couldn't ever completely clear my thoughts (Who could?), but I found myself able to guide and focus them. Bipolar, as you can guess, messes with my ability to do just that. It's become a signpost of sorts. If I haven't been able bring my thoughts to center in any meaningful way or send any intrusive thoughts on their way for a significant amount of time, I know something's off.

Has society's perception of the mentally ill changed for the better (or worse). Can you give a short example?
