Oh, I’m sorry your cat is allergic. My cat loves the lavender bath wash I use in the shower and often comes in to wait for me to open the door so he can come in. My favorite scent is called summer rain, then lavender.

Is your cat the best company you’ve ever had?

Certainly the best roommate. Abbycat is extremely intelligent and well-trained. I didn't even know it was possible to train a cat as well as she is trained. (Not bragging, I really don't have any part to this; she just is good at learning). I talk to her all the time.

What color(s) are your pet(s)?

My guy is blue with a white crescent moon on his belly.

What’s your favorite way to spend the day?

Engaging my brain. Whether it's doing puzzles, reading, going to a museum or even learning a new skill, I like to be occupied mentally.

Do you like Sudoku puzzles?

I'm not a fan of puzzles in general. I know many people enjoy doing Sudoku, though.

Do you/have you ever studied/played musical instuments? If so, which ones? Which did you enjoy the most?

I learned the guitar and organ in 7-8 grades. It was mandatory. In my school everyone had to take music appreciation and learn an instrument 🎻 . I can’t hear one note from another but I can read music and pluck out city lights pretty well. It’s been decades though and I don’t remember much but, every good boy does fine, is stuck in my head for life.

Was music mandatory for you?

Music was mandatory through 6th grade but it wasn't playing musical instruments;it was learning about music. I don't really remember except I hated it.

In 7th-8th grades you had to take band, shop or home ec.

What is your favorite sitcom?

Oh, I’d have to say Big Bang followed by Mary Tyler Moore, followed by Dic k Van Dyke. But All in the family was pretty good too as was cheers and Fraser. Mash is another favorite but it did get a bit preachy at times. I really do like a good sit com. Young Sheldon is the only current one I watch now though.

What was the last TV show you binge watched?

Warm apple cider or
Pumpkin spice latte?

Warm apple cider with cinnamon stick. I haven't had it for a while, though. I do have apple cider in the fridge, at the moment. Might just heat it with the cinnamon.

What holiday food or drink(s) are your favorite?

More seasonal than anything, but rich hot chocolate with any variety (or none) of the "fixins." Whipped cream, drizzle, chocolate chips and sometimes all three!

Have you ever attended religious services for a different faith tradition and if so, which one?

As a child going though communion classes one of our options was to visit other place of worship. We went to a synagogue, a baptist, a catholic and one other I can’t recall. As an adult I’ve been invited to other places of worship. I’ve been to a Buddhism temple and a synagogue with friends. Various churches. What impression I got was hoe more alike they are that different, many more similarities than differences.

Are you into podcasts or do you only listen to music?

I've only seen 2. They were cute and funny.

Do you like split pea soup? How about "weird" soups like butternut squash or carrot soup?

Love all three that you mentioned. I was a vegetarian for years so to me they are not weird at all

Do you like cold soups? Like gazpacho or cucumber?

I love gazpacho, but rarely have it because of my husband's garlic allergy. Otherwise I would make it every so often. I even once enjoyed it in Seville, Spain. Never had cucumber soup, but have had cold strawberry soup and vicchisoise.

How good are you at "letting things go" in life? If you struggle with that, what makes it hard for you?

I'm not very good at it. I have to exert conscious mental effort to sever whatever mental tie I'm letting go of. There's a fair amount of "I can fix it." in my mind, but more pure stubbornness. I don't like stopping. I don't like quitting, so if I do stop or quit, I have to prepare my mind for it. I'm a lot better at letting go now, especially after the object lesson of stubbornly trying to save toxic relationships both professional and personal that had no business being preserved. Stuff like that can lead to rumination and unnecessary stress so... I live and I learn, I guess.

What is a hard task or hard decision you've made that reaped a positive reward?

Selling or giving away 90% of my worldly possessions so I could move to Germany to work. I find attachment to physical things to be very difficult. Starting from scratch in another country is going way out on a limb. It gave me a world view.

Same question...

Moving several states away to go to grad school and cutting strings with my abusive father at that time.

Have you ever forgiven someone who badly hurt you?

Yes. I'm a very forgiving person and am not prone to holding any permanent grudges. Unfortunately, a lot of other people do hold grudges.

What "self care" practice are you most delinquent about?

Taking care of my teeth. Have a hard time brushing my teeth, flossing, using mouth wash, and have an easy time doing things that ruin my teeth.

Do you enjoy creative writing?

I used to. When I was a kid I turned the upstairs into a writing studio based on Jo’s, from little women. Had fountain pens and oil lamps and quilts to wrap in as the upstairs heat was turned off. But I wrote sci fi fantasy.

What’s your favorite way to spend a day off?
