It is 97 degrees outside today.
I know that there is hot weather a lot in other states.
How does the heat affect you. Are you becoming a hermit to stay indoors with air conditioning. Is there any one here with out air conditioning.
hubby decided to cook dinner tonight and turned the oven on 375.
The oven has been on an hour. This is really sweet of him but it is heating up the house.
We have it set at 75 degrees which actually cools it down to 73 degrees.
thank goodness for A/C.
It is supposed to be 98 all week in southern louisiana.
and even hit 100 by next saturday.
bizi
after dinner we are going to see the movie jurasic park it will be cold so will bring a sweater if it is.I am sure their electric bills are sky high.

We've had a lovely week-end in the 70's and 80's, but tomorrow the temperature is climbing. Tuesday will be over 100 and that will continue for who knows how many days. So yes, I will have the a/c set to 68 and fans on. The a/c is a window unit, though, so the kitchen and living room are cool. The bedroom will be very warm and the bathroom will be very hot. A/c when I'm driving.

We hope & pray for a breeze to come off the ocean and cool down the night. Our nights don't stay terribly hot and sticky like yours do. My apartment stays quite warm all night, though. I always need fans and sometimes the a/c overnight.

I didn't live in an air conditioned home until I was in my late 20's. I don't know how I coped before that, except that I was young, more resilient, and not on heavy meds.

The heat here is dry, like a desert. Only very occasional, mild humidity. I have experienced the heat/humidity of the deep south a few times and it was sheer hell. But the extreme heat here is no fun, either, especially because we are in such a severe drought. We used to get a day of cool rain near the end of July, but that hasn't happened for many years. Everything is so dry and dusty now.

Weather is so interesting to me.

I was gonna make a joke about places I've been that have actual deserts being more bearable. Fun fact: they have more humidity than I do right now! Still, I tolerate arid deserts better than I tolerate the heat here in middle America.

The temp hit 100 here where I live day before yesterday. It's a nice 80 degrees with low humidity today as I write this. I'm pretty-much always a hermit. So the higher temperatures we had over the past few days (and no doubt will have again... soon) don't really affect me much. We do (thankfully) have A/C to cool us in the summer as well as a gas fireplace (along with our furnace) to keep us cozy during the winter.

Winter always lowers my mood. It’s been raining so often here. Going to rain again tomorrow. Sunrise is only at 7:30 so I drive to work in the dark. Nothing like darkness and rain tomorrow morning. Yikes.

In answer to your question, my house is not air conditioned and I grew up without it. I'm in Virginia with high heat and humidity. However I recently purchased a window unit for my family room for my dog. He is a senior dog and was suffering with the heat. But, since I installed the unit its been relatively cool with highs in the 80's with low humidity so I haven't actually used it. But it is supposed to warm up this week.

We have not needed to set up the A/C here in NH yet and hopefully won't have to for weeks. I feel for all of you with extreme heat.

Feels like we skipped spring. We went from temperatures in the 40’s. To 100, and 90’s. When we do get 80’s the humidity is awful. Read an article in the paper that my state’s humidity is rising along with temperatures. Because of warmer climate we get less snow and ice so bugs are coming out to play. Ugh, bugs. They are worse that heat. Just going to and from things I’m getting bit up. Maybe I should buy a bunch of frogs to put around the house?

I used to pay money to take a sauna. Where I live now it is free most of the time. Praise the lord. I call my wife Sweety and she calls me Sweaty.
Saunas are actually supposed to be good for you because you sweat out toxins. I just drink a lot of water. The doctor said that my urine was really clean so at least I have that going for me.

Ugh, another 103 with a hot, very dry wind. The dipsh*t power company cuts the power down to weak because if they didn't everyone's power would blow out from overuse because the power company is inept So, my apartment is warm.

How are you sleeping, a ceiling fan cools a room down a few degrees.
sorry it is just warm and not cool.ours is fine had some squealing The other night called our AC folks and they said that sounds like the motor. Which could cost anywhere from 600 to 1500 bucks but a new unit is 6,500. The unit is 26 years old. We would rather fix it then replace the unit. the tech I talked to said why spend the money when the unit is so old. They don't make them like this any more for sure. just like our old dryer. we have had to replace the rollers once and it runs like a charm. It is old the repair guy said keep it so we did and have been happy with it. It is probably 50 years old.

Yikes, that's expensive. I don't know why, but ceiling fans in California are rare. My first trip to a southern state was to Texas and I thought it was so smart to have a ceiling fan in every room. I have a good fan sitting on a chair near my bed and a big window in the wall behind my bed. I turn the fan up high and open the window. So it feels pretty good. Tonight the low will be 62, then back up to 100 tomorrow.

*Beth*62 sounds lovely for a nights low.
we will be near 100 today also.
glad that you have a fan on you and

that you can mange to sleep.
I remember growing up in northern IN,

and we only had a fan. It got hot in the

summer and we had the fan to help cool

off the room.
but the temps were not as high,

nor did we have the humidity there like we do here.
Plus I am still having hot flashes which

is miserable, fortunately they only happen
in doors at a clients house, and not
when I leave.
I am only in the heat when I go in and

out of clients homes. I see construction
guys out in this heat and I feel so sorry for them.
Maybe you could take in a movie?

Some theaters have discounted days.
Our air filter was full of cat fur.

perhaps that is why it squealed the other night.
It sounds great now. the unit is close to 30 years old.
A new unit costs 7K.

Have a good day beth

bizi, I know you know this, but just a reminder: drink lots of water.

I was just looking at movies playing in the theatre near me. My curiosity is peaked by Elvis. A cold movie sounds sooo nice.

I heard thunder in the back ground but no rain which we desperately need.
Right now it is 75 degrees with 90% humidity. Husband sat outside with a fan on him.
He takes walks every morning and walks about 4 miles. comes back sweating. I have tried to walk with him but can't keep up and I don't have any endurance. I belong to planet fitness and have not been in ages. 2 months ago I fell on my knees and did something to them. It hurts to get down on the floor with my job. I try to do some stretching exercises. simple but they help to get out of bed. I thought it would just get better. It has not.
maybe I will call in to my Doctor to see if she would approve PT.
WE have met our deductible for the year. so PT would be free I think.
not sure.
I don't have time for PT. unless I can drag my self out of bed and go early.
anyway,
I hope you are coping with the heat @*Beth*
