Med Update 30mg Prozac is working well. I've stopped crying all the time (that had become really difficult, crying over every little thing). I would like to raise the Zyprexa to 7.5mg, but I know S. Won't approve it. Except...I do have enough on hand to raise it until I see the new pdoc. So..... The only side-effect I notice (besides hunger, of course) is an increased tremor in my hands. That is a problem because I need to be steady with Sidney's tests and shots. But, I could give 7.5 a try, see how it goes. Slightly better sleep and a calmer mind would be really good. __________________ |

Med Update
1/27/2023 Pharmacy okay'd early Prozac refill so lucky me, because the 30mg is helping so much. I'm going to take it up to 40mg, so by the time I see the new pdoc I'll have my meds in order & he'll just need to prescribe. I would like to go to 7.5mg on the (currently 5mg) Zyprexa, only thing stopping me is the same old darn tremor. I need to have my hands steady enough to take care of Sidney's glucose tests & insulin shots. No side effects at all except, of course, sugar craving. Appt. with S. on 2/1, hopefully my last appt. with him. What a struggle this has been with him. __________________ |

Med Update
1/30/2023 I've increased the Prozac to a normal dose of 40mg. I'm doing it slowly, the way I've learned is the best way for me to increase...40, 30, 40, 30, 40, 30, 40, 30...over a week. (Told clinic I tossed my bottle to obtain new 'script.) __________________ |

Yesterday I felt somewhat hypomanic (reckless, ecstatic, extroverted, less worry). It felt GREAT after all those months of depression! But I was a bit concerned. Talked with Mary, who politely suggested I drop the Prozac back to 30mg. Not an easy thing to do. So I kept it at 40. Today I felt much more stable. Energetic, but stable.

Stable is good, but I do think dropping down to 30 is a wise idea if you start feeling hypomanic again or stop sleeping. Or keep doing the 30-40-30-40 thing without going straight up to 40. Increasing the Zyp might help too.
Glad you got to enjoy the feeling though! I think it's OK to enjoy a little hypomania every now and then as long as you remain aware and be careful not to let it escalate. __________________ If any chord that I could strum Make me feel less like a man I'd slam my fingers in the doorway And shatter all the bones So I could never strum again Last edited by MuddyBoots; Feb 04, 2023 at 06:26 AM.. |

Your advice is excellent, Boots. I take it to heart. If I could do what I most would like to do, I'd raise the Zyprexa to 7.5. But the same thing always returns with AP's, which is a hand tremor. None of the meds for tremor have ever helped, and my hands have to be steady enough to take Sidney's blood and give her insulin injections. She's well worth sacrificing a 'hypo high' if need be. __________________ |

*Don't stay up late talking to Johnny, or for any reason. Not wise. Be smart. You will be tired and feeling rubbish the next morning. Do not, do not, do not.

Med Update
2/8/2023 It's hard when I feel so happy, such liberation from those awful many months of severe depression, but the signals I'm getting are that I need to feel less "up." Less ME. It feels like a lot of people want me to be depressed. Makes me feel like running away from some people. If only they could be in my shoes.... Anyway, I agreed (with M.) to drop the Prozac to do the 30, 40, 30, 40. That's as low as I'll go. I pushed back my appt. with med child to next week. Wish I never had to speak with him again, but guess I can do it one more time. The anger I feel for him is beyond measure, how else can I say it. I'd still be in the depression I was in in October on if I would have listened to him. Plus, the visual issue with the Topomax. Unbelievable, what "professionals" can get away with. I did take 50mg. Seroquel so I could sleep today. I did sleep, but I think the S. caused a depressed feeling. Anyway, bedtime before too long. __________________ Last edited by *Beth*; Feb 09, 2023 at 01:03 AM.. |

Med Update
2/10/23 Switching Zyprexa to a low-dose Seroquel (Zyp causing mental confusion that is extreme, also an unhealthy appetite). Seroquel at bedtime 50mg, could go down to 25mg. Last night the changeover was fine, today my mind feels clear and sharper. __________________ |

Seroquel def better than Zyp. No furry-mind, no extra tremor. 50mg is too high, however (very dizzy during the night). I think 25 + melatonin is fine.

Sunday, 2/12/23
I'm feeling a shadow of depression for the first day since increasing the Prozac to 30-40mg. Definitely not terrible, but more of a "Sunday afternoon ick." I'm concerned about the changeover to Seroquel, which I suspect tends to cause me to feel some depression. Stopping the Zyprexa also stopped the extreme hunger, though. But, harder to fall asleep on 25 S. Maybe return to the 2.5mg Zyp with either melatonin or ZzzQuil. __________________ |
