I am only on sleeping meds right now (for psych): Mirtazapine, trazodone, clonidine, and melatonin and tonight looks like another all-nighter.

This is bad probably, but 40mg of melatonin.

Even remeron isn't knocking you out?

I’d had 2 hours of sleep per night since at least Monday. I was hallucinating, disoriented, overly emotional, emotionally liable…. My Pdoc upped my Vraylar on Tuesday but that seemed to make things worse. Finally last night I slept from 9-4. Oh and my Pdoc was supposed to call me yesterday, Friday, and never did! Plus she got the idea on Wednesday that I wasn’t taking my meds! But I never stopped them! I have an appointment this morning to see someone from my primary care dr’s office. I was crying on the phone to the nurse at my primary’s office yesterday ! Just past it!

So I don’t know how to sleep either. Vraylar isn’t sedating with me. If anything it keeps me up. Klonopin doesn’t sedate me anymore. That’s all I’ve got! You need one of those night-night shots they give at the psych hospital, I think.

I’ve taken I think all the IM and IV “sedatives” over the years and can’t think of one that would knock me out for even half an hour right now. I just got pissed after my past B52, I’ve probably taken more benzos my previous IEA alone than the oldest benzo addict in their life (not like they’d ever rx me those again). Antipsychotics do literally nothing but put my ADHD into overdrive and cause akathisia. Sleep Gods hate me.

I have restless legs at night. But since I have been taking them earlier that I was now I sleep great. It is called requip.I was having all of the symptoms, pretty soon it effected my whole body and I could not get comfortable.
now I take it 1-2 hours before bed and that works for me. my 1 mg klonipin
I don't think that it is working any more.
So now I take remeron 10 mg This seems to be working out.
I have to get up and go pee several times at night, I can fall back to sleep.
sorry it is so hard for you guys to sleep. The requip was a game changer for me.

Is requip sedating or does it just help with the restless legs that keep you up and allow you to sleep? I've been googling sleep meds for like two hours this morning trying to bring a list to my pdoc appointment next week to ask "which of these is going to knock me the **** out for as long as possible?"

I hope you find something that works. I don’t sleep during the week. Work. I’m up about 4am every morning. Wish I could sleep in but I can’t.

I found an extra dose of sleep meds so I doubled my trazodone and clonidine (I know trazodone is safe at that dose and clonidine for me is not but desperation), and managed to sleep from 11pm to 2am last night.

That’s great! Congrats.

I was up in the middle of the night last night for an hour maybe- maybe 2. I think I need a better pillow because I’ve been having tight neck muscles in the morning. With vet bills I’m not likely to afford one soon but I’m going to see if my insurance will pay for a chiropractor. I’ve never been to one but there’s one around the corner from me. They’d probably tell me I’m on too many prescription medications! In fact, I’m sure they would!

Requip is sedating. I take 20mg of requip and 30mg of remeron. Both are generics. You take the requip2-3 hours before going to bed. Then I read something boring and hubby determines when lights out happens It is usually 1130 or midnight. It is so pleasant now that I have that figured out.

I hope you get something that will help you sleep.

I managed to scare my therapist enough today to speak to my pdoc. Told her I got piss drunk last night and took my meds and left out the part I took like double the dose of three different OTC sleep meds and still didn't get any sleep and as we were talking a bit about it I couldn't stand being there and just screamed "CAN I FKING DIE NOW?" and she's like "uhh, do we have to go to the hospital?" nah, but is someone available to give me a ride?

ohh yeah she doubled my trazodone and added Seroquel XR "for mood"

If I were not on trazodone, hydroxyzine, 350 mg of Seroquel daily all combined, melatonin, gabapentin. Propranolol & buspirone for my racing heart due to panic attacks, I would never sleep at all.

I wish I were back on clonidine too at the moment.

That's scary!

My Seroquel was increased and Zofran added to my stomach meds today now.

Usually an extra trazodone can help with my sleep and did not (100-200 mg trazodone) instead of 50 mg.

Occasionally (not now, just in the past I'm saying) I would take the supplement valerian too with melatonin and still not sleep.

Oh, the pdoc told me I just went 3 DAYS without my meds & I'm a mess!

muddy, how do you even manage 30 min. rounds of sleep?

Idk, after like three consecutive all-nighters at some point I open my eyes while laying down and look at my watch and it's been 15min-an hour since I last looked at it and say "cool, just got 20% of my week's sleep!"

Not definitively. There's always a good chance I open my mouth (or my skin) and EMS comes by though.

Me too lately! I only had one over 24 hr all nighter Friday night/early Saturday morning.

I'm wishing I was on a benzo too right now, but I have been off those awhile now YEARS off benzos.

I honestly don't know how I'm not consistently (if ever "truly") manic. My manic symptoms only manifest at night (and I do have a lot of outbursts during the day) and they feel more like PTSD-panic or BPD-splitting when it happens rather than true bipolar mania. Not on any mood stabilizer right now, technically on two antidepressants (trazodone and mirtazapine) and Straterra which can cause mania. I read sometimes mild dissociation can manifest as feeling tired randomly, so maybe my "not manic" times are when that's triggered in that way. I don't know.

I feel like I'm only calm right now because I had a shot but only one shot and as the sun is starting to go down and I'm about to piss that out I do feel myself revving up a lot.

I probably had ODed on an entire bottle of Trazodone once and checked to see if I was awake.

Okay how now?

Nope. Still awake and zero chance I ODed today. I can’t believe I am still alive.
…still checking……checking…

Or not.

I am lucky if I understand this bipolar forum and MSF have more than one thread at a time.

I’m not even hallucinating right now! I might have been though. Took my night meds more an 1 hour ago, so I can’t be sure.

Ask about requip to see if you can get some sort of sleep.
It was a game changer for me.
