I've decided to get help...once again. I've been to many docs and have tried many meds....with not-so-good results. Yesterday, I decided to try one more time.

I have been dealing with mood swings all of my life. Depression seems to be the outstanding problem. A session with Zoloft sent me into a manic state about 12 years ago, so of course, I'm fearful of starting any new treatment.

The frustrating thing is....I can't get an appt. The earliest is July...UGH!!! Why is it so hard to get good care?

Bluesand,
If you feel like you need help sooner, call the place you made the appointment and see if they can put you on a cancellation list. The same thing happened to me and they ended up calling me like a week later and scheduling me in for the next day because they had a cancellation. If not, call around and see if you can't find someone who can see you sooner. Also, I don't know if your primary care doc knows you well, but sometimes if they know the situation, they can make a call to the pdoc and get you in sooner than you can get yourself in. What about therapy? Just a few suggestions. Hope this helps.

Same for me.

I've been to see many doctor's and received different labels from each of them. I would end up on different medication and way too much of it.

I hope this time will work out for you.

I had to wait a month for an appointment and that was only one to find the right person for me to talk to. I still haven't started seeing anyone yet. They can take too long some times I find.

bluesand,

If you feel like you might be in danger, go to the emergency room, ASAP. That will get you started quickly and might get you an appointment with someone quicker.

Be sure and tell you pdoc (whoever that is) about your experience with zoloft. It sounds as if you may be one of us bipolars that can't take ad's without a mood stabilizer like lithium, depakote, seroquel or lamictal. It's always a balancing act with meds!

You should also be searching out a therapist and a local support group (check NAMI and DBSA).

It's like bulding a chair, the more legs you have under it the sturdier it will be!

Peace,
DJ

I know how hard it is to wait for an appointment, but it will well be worth the wait. Just make yourself a promise you will stick to the doctor recommended regimine, and everything will work out.

Take care,
Dee
