Nirmil- I dont know if it is typical of bi-polar, but I am bi-polar and i definately have it. I read another post this afternoon of someone else describing feelings of hostility/anger. Without meds I can be downright hostile at times. I dont think your alone. I'm really surprised that no one has responded to this post yet. Hang in there.

I can get extremely angry at times......off the charts angry. I don't how many things I've broken from throwing things because of it. I'm bipolar 2 so, and I do have a "rescue" med I take so things don't get out of hand for me if I can't get control of my emotions.

There's times when I want to break everything I own in order to relieve the rage but I somehow manage to keep it under control. I understand where you're coming from because I feel like **** when I get angry and all I want to do is cry. Hope you feel better. ![]() |

when i am hypomanic ,i have those characteristics. i am highly agitated and sometimes full of free-floating rage. so, imho, it seems that is what is going on. do you have a therapist or pdoc? most times i just let it run it's course and stay at home as much as i can to avoid situations where i might blow up. other times my pdoc tweaks my meds to help me get out of that hypomanic state.
hope this helps. ![]()

I'm schizoaffective bipolar 1 mixed type. I'm always irritable and if my mood pushes into mania, then I can be downright nasty and on the verge of clocking someone.

I also experience the same symptoms that you&the others have described. When I get angry enough, in a rage really, I literally see red. It's the mania-gets you every time. Have you discussed this problem with your t? Are you on any meds? I don't know what to tell you as to how to deal with it except to say don't stuff your anger, don't get physical with people/animals&don't let anyone tell you you have no right to be angry. You feel what you feel.

I don't think anger and rage is uncommon. I have experienced also. That said, I take responsibility for it and try not to visit it on anyone else.
I do believe this is part of the irritability of mania and mixed episodes and not the result of anything other people do so I try my best to not make decisions when I feel this way. I also try not to argue when I feel this way because what starts at being annoyed turns into a fight. I do my best to do 'alone' things during this time. It's not the best time for group activities.
